I dont understand why the fandom hate go so much I truly liked it and why so much hate??
(This became longer than I expected)
OK, I’m someone who didn’t really like GO. Here is my personal reason, but I’m only talking for me here.
First of all, it’s great if you enjoy GO, I do not want to change anyones mind or make the series bad for you. That’s not my goal. I’m just trying to answer the question.
Personally, I thought the first season of go was terribly boring. I stopped watching it multiple times and only continued because I knew there were cameos from the characters of the original series (which weren’t even that good. Aphrodi was basically nothing but fanservice). The whole thing with fifth-sector didn’t make any sense at all and the reasoning behind a lot of actions felt very contrived. The characters were nice, that’s one of the things Level-5 does really well.
Chrono Stone was actually way better. It was exciting to see what happened next and a lot of really interesting characters were introduced. But there were also so many plot holes! It began to really bug me as time went on.
Since I’m not sure how far you are into the series take this as a spoiler warning because from here on I can’t not talk about spoilers
The thing with chrono stone was also that Raimon fought a team who used vicious taktics (Alpha put Tenma in the hospital) to defeat them and within the last episodes they say “fooled you, we are the good guys!” and the audience is just forced to belive it. I mean, I get it, they needed to prevent soccer from becoming such a big thing, but how stupid do you have to be to think that puting some people in the hospital, crushing some peoples dreams (Tsurugi) and being a dick in the international game Japan vs. Idontcare was the only way to acomplish that??
What I’m trying to say is that I found CS interesting, but the more logic it tried to apply the less sense it made. (Also I found Pairings with Kinako aweful, but that might just be me. I just thought that was wrong but whatever.)
Now, I thought Kenshins were a bit anoying. Mostly because they were hyped as something really special and in the end everyone had one. Kenshin armed I didn’t mind so much, I anticipated something like that. With the MixiMax you at least had really interesting stories and character develpment.
Go Galaxy starts and all of that established stuff is gone. Not allowed. The cast is also whiped out except for the main three (later four) and replaced with completely new characters. These characters were fine, though really anoying at first, I loved them in the end. My main problem with them was that they could not play soccer at all. I don’t care if they have souls. The series wants me to belive that this group of non-soccerplaying japanese children were the only once to save our world in a competition of soccer????? What???? That makes zero sense. I know, it’s a childrens show, but that’s just ridiculous. And the aliens were the ones who thought soccer was the right competition! Which means we have to assume that soccer is known throughout the galaxy and has the same rules everywhere, no matter what the enviroment is. And wasn’t it a great coincidence that the opposing teams were walking on two legs and needed the same airpressure like humans to survive? EVEN ON A PLANET COMPLETELY MADE OUT OF WATER?
Sorry if it seemes like I’m angry, it’s just that I really love the original and the way they tried to make things at least somewhat plausable, even if it was ridicules. Their logic worked in their own universe. GOs doesn’t.
I also hated that they brought Kageyama back. I was genuinly sad when he died and bringing him back (and the way they did) felt cheap so me.
Another thing I could rant on would be Tenma, whom I really think should not have stayed captain of the team after the first series, but that is a different thing.
So, that’s mainly it. If you want me to elaborate, please, feel free to ask. Also I would love to hear other peoples opinion on this.
