The Queer Representation on "Yuri on Ice" by Diogo Prado (UFRJ) "A universe where a queer person is not represented as 'the other', but where they are allowed to love, to exist freely and, above all, to be happy" (PRADO, 2018) This researcher from my graduation course did an academic research on how Yuri On Ice represents Queer people. He talked about how the series depicts sexualities and gender performances, that defy normativity, well and realistically. He also pointed out that even though the protagonists live a homosexual relationship, the story does not present itself as an Yaoi (where relationships are treated as a fetiche and 'entertainment'). It is an Ice Skating Story which happens to have a homosexual couple. one word: IMPORTANT.
