I wanted to do a sequence on orc partnership traditions. My orcs don’t really marry but they do pair, and the cultural romantic ideal is to find someone you can duel to a standstill to be your True Wuv (and equal). The really schmaltzy fairytale version of that is to fight so viciously one combatant’s weapon breaks, and the opponent offers up their own blade to their worthy foe (a risky move, because taking it and either beheading or bedding the offer-er are totally on the table there). Basically a real champagne-and-roses way to propose.
ANYWAY this is a version of that where it’s obviously an orc/human relationship, and this poor human warrior is fucking confounded when he realizes that this orc has basically been courting him via raiding the surrounding countryside for the last few years. There’s definitely a gap of multiple years between the second and third illustration where things get worked out, haha. Not a bad way to establish peace in your area, though.
The wedding’s a combo of customs, btw–a jointly forged weapon is an orc thing, the ornate celtic cloaks are a human thing in this region.
these’ll get polished up digitally someday whenever I get work computer again and have all the lore and text added, but for now enjoy the WIPs! Also, please do not use this for your own setting/game/etc, thank you.
