trigger warnings: obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety
Orlena Astrid Guerrero possesses a unique charm that effortlessly attracts people to her. You can try to hate her, but her kindheartedness and generosity has always made it impossible for anyone to dislike her, no matter how jealous you can be.
As a student, she has always excelled academically and socially, achieving top grades in every subject and actively participating in school activities, and even getting voted homecoming and prom queen.
Orlena's journey as a pageant girl began unexpectedly when she participated in a beauty pageant at a young age. Since then, she dedicated herself to perfecting her skills, spending countless hours refining her public speaking, posture, and smile. Her hard work paid off when she became Miss USA and represented her country in the Miss Universe competition.
In all honesty, everything you see about Orlena was the result of years of perfecting her facade, to make sure no one notices the cracks on the surface of the glass.
The pressures of being Miss USA took a toll on Orlena. Despite the glamorous experiences, she struggled with homesickness and the weight of public expectations. Returning home was different, as she felt the constant scrutiny and curiosity from her community, yearning for moments of normalcy without being labeled as distant.
Behind closed doors, Orlena battles with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She keeps this struggle hidden, determined to maintain her flawless image. Hand-washing becomes a ritualistic coping mechanism, offering temporary relief from anxiety and easing her fears whenever she feels that someone might be seeing right through her.
Despite her internal struggles, Orlena remains ambitious and committed to making a positive impact. She channels her pain into her work, pouring her energy into her family's business and the development of her perfume brand. The world admires her accomplishments but remains oblivious to the silent battles she fights.
Orlena continues to navigate the delicate balance between her public persona and inner turmoil. Each hand-wash represents an attempt to cleanse herself of fears and doubts, preserving the flawless image she has crafted. Beneath her shining exterior lies a multifaceted diamond, burdened by expectations and yearning for true peace.
headcanon:
She is sometimes referred to as the Diamond of Fairford, especially
Going to Paris is Orlena’s escape. It started out as a European tour during her tenure as Miss USA, but she fell in love with the city when it provided her the comfort she needed when Fairford–a place she considers her home–could not.
Whenever she is anxious, Orlena would wash her hands. There was a time when she was experiencing the worst year with her anxiety and she was washing her hands so much that they would turn rough and often blister.
Orlena earned her bachelor’s degree in business at Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, concentrating in Business, Economics, and Public Policy and graduating Magna Cum Laude.
She is starting a perfume brand with her friend(s). She originally started it as a way to distract herself from being overly anxious and it’s also because she has a connection with a Parisien perfumery.
Orlena is not an animal person. Although she can consider them cute, she’s not entirely big on owning pets.
Orlena has a large following on Instagram, with a 592k followers. Although it seems like she often shares about her life organically, Orlena highly curates her content in making sure that her perfect facade was undisturbed.
digging deep:
“What’s it like, living in Fairford? Did you ever picture yourself settling down here or did you always know this would be your home?”
Orlena chuckled at the question, tucking a lock of her honey brown behind her ear. “I’ve always loved it there,” she said. At this point, Orlena had repeated the sentence so many times answer that she could no longer tell if it was true or just a well-rehearsed lie. “I spent my entire childhood here and this town was built by my ancestors, so of course I love it here.” If anyone were to dig up a videotape of her interview as Miss Fairford in high school, they would find her reciting the same line when asked whether she loved Fairford.
“Although I spend a couple of years away for college and I constantly travel for work, I would always come back. It’s like this town is my center of gravity and I cannot help but just be pulled to it,” Orlena smiled. Suddenly, as if there was a glitch in her system, she said, “I’m not entirely sure about settling down here.” But then she caught herself and flashed the bright smile the town of Fairford know all too well. “I mean, you never know where you’ll end up finding love, right?”
“Top five songs currently on your Spotify?”
“Oh,” Orlena lookd away from the camera and started thinking, hard. “Why can’t I remember anything off the top of my head,” she chuckled, completely caught off guard by the question. “Am I allowed to peek?”
She pulled out her phone out of her pocket and scrolled through her Spotify. “Oh here it is, my top tracks for this month are: Photograph / Clair de Lune by Cody Fry, Skylark by Renee Olstead, Nobody Gets Me by SZA – oh, I love her – Let You Break My Heart Again by Laufey and the Philharmonics, and my all time classic jam, Love by Keyshia Cole,” she listed.
“It sounds like I’m going through a heartbreak or something, but I swear I’m not. These songs are just fun to sing to in the car, you know, like when you just want to feel like you’re in a music video,” Orlena laughed.
“Are you a leader or a follower?”
“Leader, definitely,” Orlena answered without any hesitation. “I’ve always been a team-player, because I think I work best when I’m able to listen to everyone’s ideas and have my ideas be criticized so that we can sharpen it, but I am definitely the type to take charge of the discussion and making decisions comes naturally to me.
“It’s the little things in life; tell me three things that bring you a great deal of joy or put a smile on your face.”
“Going to Paris never fails to put a smile on my face. Maybe that doesn’t count because it is not a small thing, but visiting Paris is always a good idea,” Orlena said, her eyes glazing as she reminisced every wonderful time she had whenever she was in Paris. “Aside from that, I would say wearing my favorite perfume is on top of the list. It instantly makes me feel so empowered and confident that I just cannot skip my perfumes. I feel naked without it,” she shrugged.
“What else…” she pursed her lips as she racked her brain for an answer. “Oh! There's this small bakery that sells an incredible cinnamon bun. It's not too sweet and not too cinnamon-y,” she giglged at the lack of better term for it. “It’s topped off with cream cheese and some pecans and walnuts. It is just the best,” Orlena tried her best to paint a picture of just how delicious the dessert was. “My mouth is watering just thinking about it!”
wanted connections:
ex(es): I imagine Orlena would be the kind of girl who had a high school sweetheart or maybe someone who got away when she became Miss USA.
high school friends: Because Orlena was a popular girl in high school and she had stayed here all her life, I think anyone who would go to Fairford High would know her.
closest friends & confidantes: Orlena opens up only to a certain people and if she shares something personal, it means she trusts you with her life. There’s only a limited number of people she’d consider her closest confidantes.
business partner: One of my main storyline for Orlena is her creating a perfumery brand, possibly called Solene (up for discussion!), would love to have a business partner for this project of hers!
bad blood: Life’s always fun when we have just a little bit of drama! Although everyone seem to love her, Orlena must have ticked of someone or had a competition with someone from her childhood. Now that she’s back, a little tense reunion would be great!
