Master Drabble List

Holiday:I’ll write our characters celebrating a holiday together.

"Yo-cha~an, he ca~ame!"

For the first time, Vivian found herself unable to complain about her assignment as guardian to this strange 0-8-4 they’d discovered.  The sheer excitement of Christmas overwhelmed all other concerns.  How could she not enjoy sharing what was someone’s first Christmas?  It was like being a little kid again, only better, because she got the fun of opening gifts and the fun of giving them as well.

"See?" she said, pointing to the dish with its cookie crumbs and half-eaten sugar cookie.  "I told you if we put these out Santa would come and bring presents.  Have you seen the tree?  There are so many presents there that I’m surprised Santa got his sleigh off the ground!”

For a while, she was five years old herself.  Five years old, and at the same time thirty, and getting to once again enjoy for the first time in years the fun of giving gifts.  It was even better than Christmas with her father - however traitorous that thought might feel - because unlike her father, Yotsuba had no idea of what sort of gifts to expect.

Despite her misgivings at this assignment, Vivian found herself, for the first time, utterly and entirely enjoying herself.

"I WANT A CANDY CANE!"

"Yes, fine, just don’t drool all over your presents.  Do you want hot chocolate before we start opening gifts?"

An hour later, stuffed on sticky buns and candy canes off the tree, the two of them lay sprawled across the floor.

"Santa must be a really great man."

"Yes he is, Yo-chan.  Yes he is.  …Hey, you wanna play with that Lego set you got?  We could put it together and put it under the tree."

"YEAH!"
