Cultural Appropriation and cultural Insensitivity
I often see Non Black Americans using the term Cultural Appropriation wrong when describing other [Non white] ethnicities disrespecting their culture but here are accurate definitions. Cultural Appropriation is more like a power structure. Similar to how we look at racisms as a whole. Culturally insensitivity is more targeted towards inter-community.
Cultural insensitivity and Appropriation do intersect.
Cultural Appropriation is racism. There is the misconception that cultural Appropriation is based on only Blatant actions or ignorance [Ignorance is not excusable for racism, racism doesn’t work that way]. It also depends on where you are in the world for something to be considered cultural appropriation because power structures do change.
Cultural Appropriation is based on a power Structure.
[ID: Seven pink boxes containing white text. The first three of which reads, “What is cultural appropriation? Cultural appropriation is when a dominant culture (oppressors) takes from a non-dominant culture or community and uses their culture for their (Personal or not) benefit. They can change a meaning of culture, they can profit, they can disrupt a culture of people.
Cultural Appropriation: Polarizes cultural aspects from roots, Disrupts cultural flow, Makes money, Gets credit, Uses it when they weren’t invited, Culture below can’t wear their culture, Oppressor, Dominate culture, Cultural appropriation is racism, it is apart of white supremacy and it doesn’t allow the non dominant cultures to wear their own history.”
The fourth box contains a picture of Brandy-who is black, wearing braids. The text in this box reads, “For example in the 1980s a black woman named Renee Rogers was told at work that she couldn’t wear her braids. She took them to court and argued that their policies were discriminatory against cultural styles.”
The fifth box contains two pictures of Bo Derek wearing thin braids with puca shells at the ends. The text reads, “Renee Rogers lost the court case because they accused her of copying Bo Derek (A white woman) who appropriated black american braids that came from the Fulani ethnic group in Africa.”
The last two boxes read, “Cultural Insensitivity. *It can intersect with cultural appropriation. Cultural insensitivity is when an ignorant or knowingly person makes comments on another person’s cultural practices or traditions. (An action) such as wearing a persons clothing. (Verbal) Such as speaking negatively on their culture. :END ID]
Happy Anniversary to this Insufferable racist White Feminist Take on Black Men.

“The Continuation Of Dear Asian Communities”
I want to write a continuation on “Dear Asian Communities” for many reasons. I feel like I made too many broad statements while giving little details. It’s truly way to much to get into in one post. Mind You I wrote that post out of emotion and experience as well in the moment of conflict between the two communities. So the post is not only fuzzy but it’s incomplete. I wanted to also recognize the many ethnicities in the Asian race. Therefore I will break down specific problems I have with certain ethnicities activisms, racisms, and responses to anti Asian sentiments in the black community.
Granted, I have already started writing my post on “Anti Asian sentiments in the Black Community”, where I harshly criticizes my community on the prejudice behaviors towards all Asian ethnicities. I will also do something similar. As in breaking down the conflict between the two cultures in many of the black and Asians communities.
Thank you and please stand by.
Black girls from the hood who buy dollar doorknockers, get their long nails done for cheap at the salon down the block, who wear $20 wigs and  who find their party outfits from Rainbows and rock  bright lipsticks from the the beauty supply store. They are culture. They created this “baddie IG” trend years and years ago, back when black girlhood was ugly and scary and ghetto to you.Â
“You wanna be a nigga” - @iamdoechiii-blog
This will forever be one of my favorite poems because she says exactly what I can’t say all in a minute. People strive to use our slur, people strive to use our culture but they don’t strive to love my people. Thank you for this wonderful poem.
The Lgbtq+ Community Is Not
The Lgbtq+ community is not white
The Lgbtq+ community is black, muslim, Asian, Jewish, Hispanic, Native and so much more
The reason I bring this up is because of the amount of erasure people have done in and outside of the community. When a black person is homophobic. They use racism as a way to retaliate and ignore the gay black people who deal with homophobia in their communities. When a black person is transphobic, people use racism as a way to retaliate and ignore the black trans people who deal with transphobia.
To put it simply, White lgbtq+ find ways to erase those who have paved the way for them to have a space today. They are black and brown.
I also want to add that there are Asian and Native Americans that are in the Lgbt+ community. Again the Community as a whole is not white and it doesn’t belong to white gay men or white lesbians. In America white people out number non white people, thus, there being more white lgbt+ people who are white in America. That does not mean the lgbtq+ community as a whole is white because the lgbtq+ community around the world comes from all ethnicities. Also you being apart of the Lgbtq+ community doesn’t give you the right to speak on other issues. Making comments like “well black people are homophobic”, is not only racist but it is a bad stereotype and it erases the work of Lgbt+ Black people. Especially if you’re white. (Includes Non Black)
Erasing Black and other minority groups in the community is not only harmful but dangerous in many ways. One of them being the idea that “Gayness” (for example) comes from Europeans and that only gay people can only be white. Many also believe that it is unnatural to Black and Brown people because of colonization. When giving representations it shows and normalizes that people in the lgbt+ community can come in all races and backgrounds.
The Lgbtq+ community is not just GAY.
The Lgbtq+ community is bisexual, lesbians, and so much more
I bring up this issue because manly cis and straight people erase the groups in the Lgbtq+ community. There is a such thing as a bisexual man, there is a queer man and a women can be bisexual without having to be attractive to please you (talking you men). A person can be trans and be queer, gay, lesbian and more.
Trans is not a sexuality nor mental illness.
I just want to point out that there are more problems in this community and outside of this community that I cannot write all in one thought but these are big issues for me that I wanted to express because it’s shown so much. Also, I want to acknowledge that there are unique problems within this community that should also be talked about.
Black girls are some of the nerdest people out here, hollywood just pretends that they don’t know that
I seen the longer version of this… It’s cool..
Real Talk.
I had to reblog this master piece.
