janelle wasn’t the type of person to grab her sister’s phone and reply to a boy on it. no, it went against everything she stood for, but in her humble opinion, daysia didn’t need to be mingling with any new boys, hence her exiting the front door to meet oscar. “oz, right?” she raised her brows, walking down the front step of the home she’d begun to share with day. “so, i’m not exactly who you’re looking for – i know, i know. um, i’m janelle you can call me nelly if you want, but adult me has insisted on janelle. day isn’t doing so hot right now, so i figured uh, i would just join you, if that’s okay?” the brunette asked, a gentle smile tugging at her lips.
He wouldn’t lie, Oscar wasn’t expecting to see a new face looking back at him. For a moment he wondered if he had the wrong house. The next moment was filled with a flash flood of scenarios that were honestly ridiculously paranoid. Suddenly this new girl knew his name and Oz’s every instinct was telling him to flee. But enough of that. He’d come back to Peach Hollows to start fighting back against that very instinct hadn’t he? “Uh, yes. That’s me.” When she introduced herself, her name clicked in his head alongside a memory of late nights spent talking about pasts he and Daysia had both wished they didn’t come from. “Nice to meet you Janelle. You’re Daysia’s sister, yeah? Is she okay? Can I do anything?” Luckily for Janelle, Oscar was a bit more of a people person than he probably should’ve been. So hesitations aside, he opened himself for the possibility of an adventure with a new friend. “It’s cool with me. You ever ridden on the back of a bike before?” he asked her.

Oscar was never one to believe he owed anyone anything. Not only was that mindset completely against that of his upbringing, but it went against everything life has taught him in its many lessons. Still, every so often he was reminded that if one was to have any relationships of value, one must in fact value them. So here he was, leaning against his propped up bike in front of a door that wasn’t his own, preparing to hopefully do just that. Text sent announcing his arrival, he waited patiently for the recipient to make an appearance. When the front door finally opened, Oz couldn’t help but point out the slight deviation from the dress code he’d insisted upon. “I told you, you’re gonna need a jacket for where we’re headed. I’m not kidding.”

“Mhmm, sure thing.“ The chill had all but left her voice, unable to help but be happy to see him. There was, of course, the biting hurt that came from not hearing from him in a while and her having been outed by the Peacher made it just a little worse - she has just wanted her friends. “I’ll forgive ya this time.” A huff as she pulled him into a hug. “Warnin’ you though, Lu is gonna drive a much harder bargain. She’s five now so she’s practically a lawyer.” She laughed, allowing a moment before she spoke again. “When’d you come back?” She wanted to ask why, but figured the third degree could wait.
Oz grinned down at Liv, an expression of fondness that he hadn’t had pass over his face in quite some time. He’d missed his Nor’Easter buddy. “I won’t take it for granted, I swear” he promised, as she pulled him in tight. Letting his arms wrap around her he laughed along at the thought of the tiny human she was referring to getting her hands on him. “Oh boy. I’ll make sure to prepare my case for the jury then.” As he released Liv, he chuckled. “If that doesn’t cut it, i’ll just bribe her with presents and promise of a ride on my new bike.” Stepping back ever so slightly, he gave her a quick once over. She looked good. He was glad. “Not too long ago actually, only a couple of weeks. And I really was trapped in an endless loop of business meetings and bank meetings. The list went on.” It was a rough few weeks but he was glad he’d done it. Now that everything was written in proverbial stone, he could get back to doing what he loved. And focus on making his new permanent state a positive one in town. “What trouble have you been up to? I hear there’s a new name on a certain deed down the block. Does this mean I get half off on shots from now on?”

coming up on being in peach for three years, liv had become accustomed to not seeing much change in the little town (as far as businesses were concerned, anyway). so imagine her surprise when she saw oscar in a touch of ink, just as if it were a couple years ago and they met for the first time. the difference now is that she hadn’t heard from oz in a while and she really would of thought that if he had any plans on coming back to peach hollow that he would of at least told her. “oscar ibarra.” her voice was unusually cold as she opened the door, glaring him down. to an outside perspective this came off as pure anger, and there was some there, but there was also a light in her eyes from seeing her friend again. “is there a reason i found out about you being back in peach by chance, and not from you?” @oscar-ibarra
Oscar was mid sentence with an employee when he heard a voice ring out from the front door of the shop. Looking towards the source, he raised his hands in surrender. “I was going to come tell you in person I swear.” Grinning at Liv, he lowered his hands back to his side and excused himself to go over to her. “I wanted to get everything settled so when I came to tell you I was back for good I had proof to show you if you didn’t believe me. Can you forgive me?” he asked her with a small smirk teasing at the corner of his lips.
scout-owen:
Scout high fived Oscar quickly, a bright smile still on her face. “My house is mostly Halloween decorations and plants. Or at least that’s what I have up all the time.” She flipped to another page, showing Oscar a few of her other Halloween designs she had been working on. “I was thinking of putting one of these up and seeing who might want it.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I was thinking of maybe as a charity thing? Like I’ll pick three people and they decide where the money goes to that I would normally get paid.”
“Sick! Mine is too this time of year. Well, minus the plants. I can’t keep those alive to save my life.” Fall was Oscar’s favorite season by far, and don’t get him started on Halloween. He didn’t walk around calling himself the Pumpkin King as a kid for nothing. Even now, though the month had barely begun, his home was decked out in spooky treasures in all shades of orange, purple, and black. Looking over the other designs Scout was showing him, Oz only grew more excited. “Oh dude you absolutely should if you feel so inclined, that would be awesome.” He loved the idea of donating the proceeds to charity. Maybe he’d follow her lead with a few designs of his own. “Those are fire.” Looking at Scout with a playfully grin, he tilted his head curiously. “Remind me again why you didn’t want to try your hand at being boss lady of this place? You’re practically overflowing with ideas.”
