"But now I realise... I will not know what you want unless I ask. So I must tell you, I cannot offer you great wealth or Italy. But I can offer you my love and my devotion and my hope to build a family one day.... I have spent my life on the outside of things, but with you, I am in the middle of it all."
happy 8 years to the scene of all time
happy 9 years to the scene of all time
happy 10 years to the scene of all time
This is basically the same as making out.
If your man…
Discovered time travel
Is a key part of a secret rebellion
Got hit by a bike
Holds up under police interrogation
Watched himself die
Buys organic French wine
Toasts himself as never having made a difference
Gets shot in the head by his girlfriend
Was found dead/dying at five different points in time
And survived
That ain’t your man, that’s Gabriel Defoe
Alfred is such an icon because he was told to frame his boyfriend for murder but confessed himself instead (neither of them did it btw) and — in his written confession — was also like “yeah I’m gay too” in a time when that is a very much a crime and also not at all relevant to the case
just rewatched bodies. i weep for gabriel defoe, who had to watch himself die several times, all by the hand of the woman he likes, everything prompted by an invention of his own creation. it is a shame he couldn't get to properly speak with alfred and karl, even if they handled his dead body ngl. i do not think we talk about him enough as a fandom. sanest mad scientist i have ever seen
elements of a good tv show FOR ME:
- time travel
- a cult
- 4 detectives
- a 15 year old boy with blue contacts and a yellow raincoat
- a bomb
- the time loop
- the knowledge that you are loved
it’s just crazy bc like they all became better people in the loop. they found love and happiness and joy. and to save the world they had to give it up. they suffered even more in one loop so the next one could be free. like defoe talked about those memories of his previous deaths he has them but he doesn’t. he died all those times so he could survive this time. alfred sacrificed his life and reputation so next time his daughter would be free. karl sacrificed his life and reputation so that next time esther would be ok. iris sacrificed her existence (?). they’ll never know what they lost aside from a too long stare on the street.
this show has had me in a CHOKEHOLD fr
i hope the other 6 people in this fandom enjoy <3
Reasons you should watch Bodies (netflix, 2023) (some spoilers)
Fucking superb concept and intrigue
Time travel murder mystery, need I say more?
“I don’t really trust any of these characters (except Sharara)” to “I would die for each and every one of them”
We got four protagonists: a repressed gay guy, a Jewish guy trying to be stoic and failing spectacularly, a Black Muslim woman being a empathic badass, and a Disabled woman dealing with a shit ton of internalized ableism
Every time period has a duo to die for: we got forbidden lovers, found family x2, and extreme chemistry between detective and murder suspect/victim
Really fresh take on time travel while still being understandable and somewhat familiar
You will cry
Proving your boyfriend wrong by proving the existence of free will to save his life
Extremely complex moral issues: “bad” people are a result of their circumstances and cyclical abuse and neglect, and are not beyond change
The cycle of pain is not fixed, you can change it, you can heal yourself by stopping the hurt that shaped you into who you’ve become
Disabled people do not need to be fixed
The villain affirms queer identities back in the 1800s
Snarky orphan and snarky corrupt cop <3
There are four main characters and all of them have a significant role in changing the past and saving the world, there is no singular main character, it’s a team effort despite most of them never interacting
There is no excuse for emotional neglect, your pain doesn’t make you stronger, it just hurts, you became strong on your own, because you had to and because you decided to
robron doing what they do best: being little shits together
