Honestly fans translators do all the heavy lifting! The official translations tend to have a lot of errors:

misspelling names/places

misgendering the only canon trans character (Arashi, although it seems to be an English only error)

changing things that make no sense (a character that occasionally speaks English very clearly says "terrorist", but they changed it to something else for some reason

the nicknames being different ("Mikarin" to "Mikalin". I'll give "oshi-san" some leeway since it'd be tricky to translate, but "Brother Eichi" instead of "Eichi-niichan" just sounds weird lol)

Anyway yea, I def recommend finding fan translations, they put a lot of love into the series

oh damn, the misgendering stuff is really bad. It's so cool to have canon trans representation, so it sucks to see it censored :(

I wish leaving honorifics in translations was the norm because, ironically, it often sounds more natural in English

I love fan translations because you can feel the love they have for the media they translate and how much they care about preserving the characters' personalities. So many details are lost in official translations :/

The current game is the 2nd in the series (note the 2 !! in the title), the 1st game (with just 1 !) was never officially translated

Fans translated as much as they could until the company warned them to take everything down. Now you can only find fan translations on the wayback machine (wiki, dating prior to 2021 iirc), on the translators' personal sites, or here on tumblr. Basically everything is scattered making it annoyingly hard for new fans that don't know Japanese to try to get into

For the most part, it's fine to just watch the anime since it covers majority of the story
