Bears on bicycles go to the beach…
Join Alex and other bears at Westboro Beach every Sunday afternoon at 4pm, weather permitting. Bring a towel and food or drink. There is a cantine at the beach and parking is available. It’s also close to Dominion Transit station. If you’re up for a bike ride first, join us an hour earlier, at 3pm, at the War Museum. We’ll pedal over to the beach together.

The Mr Ottawa Bear 2020 competition was a smashing success and now that all financial details have been wrapped up, we were able to donate $3,000 to Pedro's charity of choice, Capital Rainbow Refuge. Here is a prudent, socially-distanced cheque handoff to celebrate. Thank you to everyone who helped organize the competition as well as to those who attended and gave generously of their time and money.
Due in part to an increase in work responsibilities Lars has decided to step down as the current Chairbear of the Ottawa Bears.
We thank him for his service and we wish him well.
Adam Frey has been appointed as interim Chairbear until a club election can be safely held to elect a new board.
Thank you Adam for stepping up to the plate. The committee looks forward to working with you to help promote the club.

Discord Video Chat Gets Popular. Over twelve woofy bears attended on June 21 for a fun and campy hour of stories and jokes. #ottawabears #cyberbear
The twice-weekly cyber bear video chats are a great way for the bears to stay in touch and catch up with friends each week and since moving the chats to Discord, we have seen more and more bears join in on the fun.
While some chats are a bit less attended (warm weather and patios are calling), sometimes the bears come out in droves.

As much as it pains us to do this, we have decided to suspend all upcoming activities in March and April in the face of mounting concern over the novel corona virus/COVID-19. This includes Bear Hydration (bear coffee), games nights and Bear Feedings but we are still working on plans for the next Bear Bar Night in May as well as the Bears in the Woods event in July in the hopes that it will be safe by then to venture out.
