A Lovely Surprise || Cristian & Diana || November 2019
With a hectic schedule, Diana had been completely wrapped up in trying to finish up her research, as well as going full speed ahead towards the quickly approaching end of fall semester. With the foreseeable end to her research paper that she hoped to have published, she found herself in the library with a few of her fellow med school students in hopes that they could read over her final draft before it was submitted for potential publication. She had submitted an early draft with her residency applications in hopes that it might win her some favor and give her options on locations to go. There had been one location in particular that she had found herself truly hoping to receive a positive response from, and she had submitted the same draft she had her fellow students reading now with that last application to the hospital in Rome. The response to that application had come recently, and she had contemplated how she would pass along that information now that she had it.
After positive reviews from her friends, everything was packed up into her messenger bag, and Diana found her mind wandering yet again. This draft would be submitted at the first opportunity, and she wondered what Cristian would say if she were able to show him her work in a published medical journal. She knew that she would feel proud of her own accomplishments, but he had always been incredibly supportive of her as well. Her mind went from that to that small sense of longing. It was a familiar feeling, missing him, and the longer time went by, the more she tried to think of ways and excuses for getting to him so she could spend any time with him that she possibly had free. With the end of the semester on the horizon, she had to remind herself that she would get to see him soon enough, although the Thanksgiving holiday would give her an extended weekend which she wondered if she shouldn’t use to visit him. It wasn’t a holiday she cared so much about, being an American holiday, but with an extra few days available it would allow her the chance to see him without feeling too stressed about how much time she had.
“Who is that?” The question drew Diana out of her thoughts. Her attention turning to her friend walking next to her. She followed the direction of her friend’s gaze to see a tall figure standing a short distance off, looking directly back at her, and her heart stopped. A slow smile formed on her face as the realization of who stood there hit her.
“Cristian...” She whispered answering the question in disbelief. Before she even realized what she was doing, she bolted in his direction. Her leather messenger bag fell off her shoulder as she launched herself into his arms without warning, her legs and arms wrapped around him simultaneously as she clung to him seeking the physical closeness that she’d only just been daydreaming about moments before.
Diana pulled her head back slightly so she could kiss him before smiling at him, her face radiating the happiness that she felt at the sight of him. She had him there, in person and on her campus, after what felt like ages apart. She couldn’t believe it. “What are you doing here? I didn’t know you were coming!” As was normal for her whenever she spoke to him, the words flowed from her in Italian. She pulled herself close to him again, her face falling to the curve of his neck as she inhaled deeply. “I’ve missed you.”

Sounds like you’re proposing getting drunk at lunch. Who are you and what did you do to Diana?
Well, I wasn’t thinking of going quite that far! But, honestly, depending on the day I might be okay with it. Let’s just say the stress of everything piling up can have that effect on a girl. Plus, you deserve to be celebrated!

But I Want You More, I Want You More, As If I’d Never Said Before…
[Cristian @cristian-rosasco & Diana || August 18th 2019]
Cristian chuckled, eyeing the syrup in Diana’s hand and quirking a brow, an amused smile pulling at his lips. “You can certainly try,” he said, reaching for it himself to pour a drizzle over the pieces of French toast he had, “but you will have to fight me for it, and I have an inkling I would win.” Setting the bottle back in between them, he glimpsed over and winked when Diana looked back, finding himself laughing louder as she agreed on the delicious flavor. “I suppose I could spare you the extra bottle I have, but only because I’m sure she’s already sold out. Next time you will have to fend for yourself, I’m afraid,” he teased, cutting off a piece of his own breakfast and taking a quick bite when the blonde continued speaking.
Now, it would be a lie if he were to say that he didn’t feel his heart skip a beat, that his stomach didn’t twist up in excitement at the prospect of Diana before so close to him during her residency. As much as he hated it, it was something he had already considered, what were to happen when she became so ungodly busy that spare time would be far and few in between with their conflicting schedules. The summer had been a blessing and a curse, offering more time than necessary and indulging him in her company, but then also making him rather … Well, to be frank, dependent on her frequent company. It was for that reason that he found his breath catching at the prospect of not having to suffer for too long, but he bit down on his tongue to fight off the grin that wanted to break onto his face.
“I think that would be wonderful,” Cristian replied sincerely, hoping that whatever excitement he was feeling wasn’t betraying him by washing over the words he spoke. “And just think, you would not have to worry about running out of this syrup.”
Diana looked up at Cristian, a laugh falling from her at his comment. “Oh? You’re so sure that you’d win?” She asked playfully, “And why is that? You never know. I could surprise you and win. I might be sneaky.” She didn’t care either way, but the idea that he felt that he would win was amusing enough. He was certainly stronger than she was, that was something she admired about him physically every single time she looked at him, but she wondered if she could manage to win some other way. When he stated he could spare her his extra bottle of syrup, she rose from her seat to place a kiss on his cheek before settling back down with a smile, “You’re an absolute dream. Thank you for that. I’ll make sure to never run out in the future so I never have to ask for your reserve store of syrup.”
At his words, Diana looked back up at him, where she’d been reserved as to sharing the idea of potentially applying for residency in Rome, she now felt a bit more confident about the idea. The added comment about the syrup had her pulling her gaze away to look back at her food. “Oh... yeah, I hadn’t thought about that.”
The syrup had been the last thing on her mind. Diana simply couldn’t imagine living apart from Cristian for three full years if their relationship continued. She was growing more attached each day. It was a terrifying thought, knowing that she cared enough about him to want to make future plans where she could be with him more often. She’d never had luck where men were concerned, and she did have an underlying fear that come end of her school year, she would find herself very much alone. At least the residency was still worth it even if things didn’t work out.
“Are you sure that it’s okay? Applying for residency here in Rome? I know it’s a ways off yet, but it’s three years once I’m here. I don’t want to assume...” She stopped talking and quickly took a bite of the french toast so she could stop making a fool of herself.

I think no matter where you go in the world politics is very divided. Almost anywhere, anyway. I know politics is important, but I think distractions from it make us so much happier as people, and I definitely distract myself from it as much as I can.
I’m sure med school is one hell of a distraction. Is it your last year if you’re finishing up?
You’re absolutely right about that. It’s both terrifying, and sad... that it’s so divided. If it weren’t for the distractions then I’m afraid we would all live under a cloud of misery and fear, just going based off of the political news.
It is my last year! Wrapping it all up. I’ll begin my residency once I’ve completed that. Then it’ll be three years of that, followed by wherever I go for my fellowship. So, a long road ahead, but at least I’ll be considered a doctor once I’ve completed medical school. It’s more than a distraction, I’m afraid, it’s positively time consuming. If I didn’t love medicine, I would have crushed under the pressure long ago.

I have a busy couple of days because my new music video drops on the 30th but after I’m free.
We can hang out after, that’s completely fine! We’ll celebrate the release of your new music video while we’re out and about. Maybe we’ll have some mimosas with lunch as a little celebration?

@eve-boudreau:
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I’m gonna take up that time, thanks. Your sexy, Italian boyfriend can fight me.
Halloween is a fuckin’ BLAST! Got my costume all sorted out, just waiting for a few pieces. Gonna eat too much candy, and then I’m gonna get TURNT! Wanna get turnt, Di? Do you? Say yes.
I doubt that my Italian boyfriend would fight you. He’s very considerate, I’ll have you know. He would likely tell me to spend time with my friends and enjoy myself. Can I say that he’s perfect? I believe he is.
All the same, YES! Let’s hang out! You’ve got your costume sorted? I haven’t even figured out any of that and the time is upon us! Um, well, I don’t know about TURNT, but... yes.
Cristian & Diana || Oct 13
@cristian-rosasco:
I don’t think an apology is necessary, I’m sure people understand.
If you need time away from anything, you know where I am. And speaking of Halloween it is quite the time for my students this year. It seems they are all “down to get spooky”, so they say. Loosely translated, of course.
No? Even if I seem to disappear without any contact at all? It seems so rude, and I don’t want people to think that I don’t care about them, or what’s happening. I’m just quite literally drowning in all things medical school and hospital rotations and surgeries and trying to submit my research to be published.
It’s a wonderful time of the year for all of that. I was thinking about dressing up this year, and I still might. Although, I’ve left it rather late to find something, but I’m usually pretty good at coming up with something on a whim. Are you going to dress up at all? And if so, I may have to make the trip just to see it.

I’m literally opposed to nothing. I just need to get some kind of routine in before I end up in a rut.
I hate seeing someone having such a difficult time of it. Sometimes the job market can be a complete nightmare. I’ve seen it happen with plenty of my friends.

mateo-reyes:
Poor baby. I’ll talk to Morgan and we can get this set up. When’s good for you?
Well, Sundays, but that is also Sunday dinner day. You can always bring pups then, too. However, my free days vary depending on my clinical rotation schedule at the hospital. I think your best bet is going to be shooting me a text with whatever days might work best for you. However, this coming week, Monday, and Wednesday are likely to be my best days from 1pm on.
Rey & Di | September 27th
thereynasantos:
That would be really nice. I feel like we haven’t had a chance to hang out since… forever.
It has been a very long time, and we need to change that. When are you free? I’ll make time for you on that day. I see that you’ve been busy, and you have things going on so I’m sure that you’re traveling around now. Just tell me when and we’ll make it work.
Olivia & Diana | September 23rd
olivia-linh-vo:
Right now I just need a job. I have no idea what I want to do with my life but if I don’t change my job situation soon i’m gonna run out of money.
Getting a job is incredibly difficult for so many. Let me talk to my cousin Matt. He might be able to at least get you a position doing registration, or office assistant work. If you aren’t opposed to that? At least while you search for something better?
Mateo & Diana || 23 - Sept
@mateo-reyes:
Dog date? I might be able to convince Morgan to let me steal the pups for an afternoon.
That would be perfect! Even if Morgan comes along too! I’ll not turn down other people if it means that dogs can come along! Costello will truly appreciate some puppy playtime! He’s been cooped up far too much.
thereynasantos:
Spent Friday in Manila and Saturday in Jakarta. Feels good to be performing again. I think I took too long off thinking I’d have other things to focus on and that all disappeared real quick. Looks like I might have a gig coming up in New York at the end of the month but until then does anyone want to hang out?
I’m in need of a hang out, in terrible need. This should be easy for us what with the both of us in New York. Think you might be up for some shopping and some lunch? Or something of the sort?
daddydanielmarks:
Watching what’s going on back in England makes me very sad. The politics there have become just as divided and extreme as they have here. I really should take my mind off it, but damn if I can’t draw my eyes away from it all.
It’s made even more sad by the fact that I have family who work there, and live there. I go back all of the time. Talking about politics with them always makes me sad as well. Then again, I’m currently finishing up med school in New York, and politics in the States are not really much better. Fortunately for me, med school is a bit of a beast and I haven’t got too much time for dwelling on things like that. Maybe there’s something that you can do that will actually take your mind off of it?
olivia-linh-vo:
So since graduating I have been to a total of 15 interviews, 6 work trials, and have applied for nearing 200 jobs. Still nothing. I wish something would just drop out of the sky. Did anyone else struggle before they got their job.
Honestly, if I’m not lucky and offered a position at whatever hospital I end up doing my residency in, I’ll be in the applying and interviewing boat. Personally, I’m sick of applying to things. Applying to uni, then applying to med school, soon I’ll be applying for residency, then I’ll be trying to do my fellowship somewhere it’s all so much. Either way, I sympathize with the struggles you’re going through to get a job. Do you have a particular field you’re looking for? Perhaps I might be able to point you in a direction and help?
