i’ve been wanting to get back into this “kink conversation series” i used to do, and all i’ve been really thinking about has been my own experiences lately with growing into my kink and relationship (both with and without kink).

as someone deconstructing a lot of my sexual nature to process trauma i have experienced in the past (like sex trafficking, child abuse, neglect, etc) it seems that i have almost been taught to ignore/not even feel my own wants and needs - only to be able to discern others needs and wants to make them pleased with me, and in turn to help me feel safe.

i find it very rewarding, i’ve realized, to have wants. to express needs. to be given what i want, and have my needs met.

i’ve always been assigned the label of “brat,” and never truly felt “bratty.” i’ve just felt like what i was asking for and what i needed was “too much,” and eventually i gave up on asking even in kink situations because a hard no seemed to blend into a soft yes more often than not - and i felt i had to adapt.

my partner (my dom, yes, but partner first) and i have been really talking about my sexual trauma and reactions to certain things, which made me realize that this kind of kink is truly brand new for me. safety has been pretty important to me for a longtime, but for the first time i am learning about pleasure. about fun kink that i truly enjoy and am excited to participate in. about enthusiastic consent being the only acceptable kind.
