Theory: The Knight is a fountain

This is probably gonna get debunked in the next chapter but like the knight has the same or at least similar color scheme to the titans + titan spawn. I don't think its too presumptive to say the Titans are basically made up of the same thing that the fountains are made up of: pure darkness.

I feel like this indicates the knight is also to some extent pure darkness.

A fountain, of course, is something where rushing water comes from. The most obvious personification of water that we've gotten so far are the mizzles and especially Miss Mizzle, who is the water fountain in the church.

The knight's flying sprites look kinda similar to Miss Mizzle?

(if these sprites appeared in chapter 4 please let me know I genuinely can't remember seeing them)

All of this + the fact that the knight has a weirdly malleable form kinda points to the knight being a fountain.

Anyways, if the knight is a fountain, what if the knight is a consequence of a lightner being stabbed with a blade fueled with the will needed to make a dark fountain. (not naming any particular candidate for the knight but like the most likely candidate is Dess)

the knights moralis really were introduced at the perfect time, because before meeting them you're kind of suspicious of the witch society thanks to a multitude of different reasons (the ban on magic, the one-sided history, the mere existence of the memory spell) but we've not been in this world for long and the brimhats were presented as the main antagonists right from the start.

and then you meet the knights moralis and you realize, no, it's not that simple. the brimhats are awful, but the witches live in an authoritarian society, no two ways about it. their entire justice system consists only of their police force which is, in fact, not required to investigate or collect evidence of wrongdoing before enacting punishment. we see that easthies could have erased a young girl's memory immediately upon spotting her at the scene of a crime without even making sure she's the culprit. and even if she were guilty, he's also one to enact judgment and punishment. the knights moralis are literally the judge, jury and executioner.

that was the exact point where i realized that the previous dubious points about the witch society were entirely intentional. yes, it is fucked up, and the author won't let us forget it. this is a society that limits learning, bans knowledge, controls information, gives individuals the power to enact horrible justice without oversight. despite the gentle overall vibes, this is a society where citizens have no vote or justice and where, even if not guilty, they can be effectively erased with no avenues of retribution against the police force or the government. the police force exists solely to support the regime, in fact. they even say so; the knights moralis are here to 'secure and execute the rules of the Day of the Pact'.

and the author knows that. the characters are slowly realizing that. i wonder where all this is going to go.

This reveals Sosuke's hidden talent: he is absurdly unnoticable. For whatever reason, people simply do not see him—his lack of presence is so powerful that people act like he's invisible, even when they're physically touching him. I have to wonder how many times Sosuke fought back in the past, yelling at people when they sat on him and making an effort to be seen, before realizing that it was a lost cause. That's gotta take a lot out of a guy.

We also get some lore about Taiyo and Mutsumi's classmates!! The boy on the right is named Shirai and has an older sister with an unnamed illness, while the boy on the left is named Namino and has a little sister. Very funny detail that Sosuke only knows this because he was following them like a creeper aksdhsakjdhka.

And all of these people (many of whom may have attended Kuroyuri's campaigning sessions!) are watching it happen. Social media is about to EXPLODE.
