When lovers of the sea meet. #surfchile
Free ferry ride, woot woot!
Heavy traffic. Mooooooooove on over please! #dadjokes
Abondanado on the Chilean coast
Bubble party!
We were the first on the scene of this newly fallen tree, which completely blocked the only coastal road in this region. Adam busted out our machete & ax, and along with some locals trapped on the other side of the road, set to chopping the tree! 15 minutes in we were nearly through, as a truck with road workers pulled up & started a chainsaw with much bravado. Everyone who had rallied with manpower looked at them with silent scorn, we didn't need saving.
Our new pal Joel from @el_growler hopped in the van and showed us a right hand point break in the land of lefts. Many times I find myself surfing spots alone, which is great, but not as good as sharing waves with a friend.
I had to rub my eyes when we saw two gringos standing on a cliff near our camp with surfboards checking the waves out front. I wasn't sure if this stretch was surfed, but indeed it is by a handful of guys. Joel moved down here 6 years ago from Oregon and he opened his micro brewery @El_Growler in the small city of Valdivia, Chile earlier this year. After sharing some fun waves, we headed over to his place to sample the tasty brews and delicious food.
Surf check from the top bunk. Ehh, back to bed. #vanlife
Freedom vessel, casa rodante, tiny house on wheels, kombi, Swiss Army knife van, shaggin' wagon, hippie bus, Westy, #adventuremobile, vee dub, campervan ... Call it what you will, we call it home. #vanlife
#FieldStudy: We have eaten these yummy wild berries two seasons in a row now- they say once you taste the Calafate berry you will return to #Patagonia.
Art time, all the time!
Tiny house, big world.
It is with a heavy heart we share this photo, as Doug Tompkins died in a kayak accident Tuesday in #Patagonia. A year ago we had the pleasure of meeting Kris & Doug Tompkins in their future Patagonia Park in Valle Chacabuco, Chile, which is just one of their many epic projects to rehabilitate degraded lands & donate them back to public use. An avid adventurer, dedicated conservationist, an inspiration, his focus and action was large. Sending much love to all his family & the entire team at @conservacionpatagonica #DougTompkins ❤️
I promised I'd never put a picture of my coffee on here, but I lied. They made a pretty good espresso on the ferry from Argentina to Chile at the Hua Hum border. #fancyvanlife
Adios Argentina, hola Chile! Ferrying across Lago Pirehueico at the Hua Hum border crossing outside of San Martín de Los Andes.
On our last day with Emily's sister, Laura, we rode horses around Lago Guitierrez soaking up her & our last time in Patagonia. It's been nearly a year we've been exploring this incredibly diverse region & could spend a lifetime doing so, but our gypsy feet are getting itchy, so we are heading on!
