Summary: Reader is an elf traveling with the Dwarves when they go to Mirkwood. She went missing there a hundreds of years ago.
Y/N felt nervous build in her stomach as they marched up the long winding passage to what Y/N dreaded the most. The King of Mirkwood.
She walked close to Thorin as they kept walking. Her black cloak covered her from who she was. Bending down slightly, as her elf height and his dwarf height made talking quiet quite difficult.
“Thorin, the best thing to do in this situation would to be nice to the king.” She whispered her warning. She knew how he was, and she knew how HE was. The two would not mix.
“You two!” Legolas snapped making Y/N stand back up eyes down. He walked up, “ What are you two planning? A way out? There is none.” He snapped walking past.
Y/N couldn’t find herself to be mad. She had seen this elf as a elfling. Taught him how to fire an arrow straight. She could not be mad. She glanced at Thorin E/C giving one last warning glance.
As they got to the top Y/N felt her stomach drop. He was sitting upon his throne, adored in silver robes and a crown made of twigs with berries and leaves twisted into them.
His ice blue eyes seemed to glare at them from a far. They started pulling everyone except Thorin. Oh no, this would not do.
“I must stay with him!” She said loud yet soft her voice echoing in the empty hall. The guard pulled harder and she pulled harder.
“Do not make me do something I will regret” She warned. The guard didn’t make a face until a rich deep voice, that sounded like velvet echoed. “ Let her stay. She will do no harm.” Y/N turned sharply to him E/C eyes wide and she felt fear strike her heart.
She could not face him even after hundreds of years. His words still etched into her heart. Never to be gone. But she had to make sure the dwarf king made it out of there alive.
So she straightened up and the guard slowly undid her bindings. She rubbed her wrist slightly before watching as Thranduil waltzed around talking to Thorin. She was captivated by the way he seemed to flow over the ground.
Each move precise and well put. What brought her out of her world was these words, “There are gems to in the mountains that I too desire. White gems, made of pure starlight.”
Y/N felt her stomach twist rage now coming over her. He was still after those damn gems. Thought clouded by anger were once again broken when Thorin unleashed his anger.
“Thorin...” She slightly said putting a hand on his shoulder as Thranduil lunged forward showing his scared face. Her grip on Thorin tightened at him so close to her face. She watched his perfect skin melt into twisted muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
She knew the scar well enough. She grunted in anger when he waved his hand for the guards to grab them. “You are still as foolish as ever!” She shouted her anger past her breaking point.
She was fed up with his act. He froze looking at her. “ And what came over you to think you could speak?” Oh, oh he did just not. She stepped in front of Thorin as the guards neared.
“You will not take him. You might find I’m quite hard to bring down.” Everyone was tense, the atmosphere waiting for someone to make a move.
“Who are you?” Thranduils question made her freeze. “No one of importance.” She insisted. He slowly walked back down his steps. “You have thrown yourself in front of this dwarf even though you are clearly not a dwarf.”
She didn’t speak before sheepishly answering. “I’m a really tall dwarf?” That didn’t do any good. He wasn’t amused by her joke.
“Take off your cloak or both you and your friend will rot in my dungeon.” Y/N looked at Thorin and he looked back with indifference. She sighed and slowly pulled her hood over.
H/C cascaded down her shoulders and she looked up. Pail skin framed her face and sparkling E/C looked at the king. Her full/thin lips were pulled into a frown. Two pointed ears poked through her hair.
Thranduils face went slack. Y/N was tall, ever for a elf. She was almost the same height as Thranduil so she met his blue eyes with her E/C eyes.
“Thranduil.” She said his name rolling off her tongue like honey. He blinked finally coming back to his senses. “ Y/N...” Y/N held steady trying to not let him saying her voice affect her.
“I see your still the same stuck up jerk as you where when I left.” She spoke with a icy tone. His gaze narrowed, “And I still see you have no loyalty.” She snarled going forward pointing a finger at him.
“I had loyalty, you just proved you weren’t worthy of it.” He gazed at her with no expression. “Yet here you are, in my kingdom. With a dwarf” He said the name like poison.
“Well at least he appreciates me.” She snapped walking back to Thorin putting a gentle hand on his shoulder. Thranduils gaze burned into her looking at the two.
“Guards, take this dwarf with his friends. Bring Y/N to her room.” Thorin was tugged away grunting in anger. He looked back worry in his eyes. Y/N gave a kind smile and nodded her head.
Thranduil watched the exchange with a furious expression. The guard pulled her along. She glared with every ounce of anger she had at the king who looked at her blankly. A mask on his face hiding every emotion.
But as they closed the door, she saw that mask crack.
