4 more sleeps to Kathmandu
I'm re-taking over my blog with a completely different aim: in four days I will be flying to Kathamandu to start a 5 months internship with an English NGO that operates in Nepal called Circus Kathmandu.
I urge to write again in order to somehow detach myself from this experience and keep my friends up to date with my new exciting adventure.
I'm also starting to raise awareness of the Circus around me as you'll be able to see day-to-day progress.
Circus Kathmandu is a company that works with childrens who have been through human trafficking and other vulnerable situations.
"Many of them have been retrieved from Indian circuses where they were sold as young children. They trained hard as performers, often learning skills to a very high standard, but usually missed out on other education. CK has given them a platform to express and further develop their hard-earned skills in a safe, supportive and highly creative environment."
The reason why I chose this job is because I consider this opportunity as a brand new challenge in what I have been doing so far.
Furthermore I'm acknowledging more and more the power of circus as therapy through which young childrens learn the basic principles of human life. The environment in which those kids are growing and developing their skills is simply fascinating and is a world that a lot of people would dream of escaping with.
The principles on which circus is founded are:
.Accepting the other, the alternative, the different;
.Fulfilling the need to play, have fun and take risks;
.Building of trust. Cooperation with each other;
.Learning how to protect one and others;
.Self development. Becoming creative and innovative.
The excitement I feel towards this project has the ability to keep away from my mind the fear and the thought of how hard it will be settling down in a developing country such as Nepal.
I will be working in close contact with the creative director Ali Williams, the co-founder of the English company NoFit State Circus. Together we will endeavor our best to raise awareness of the company's name and their social outreach programme: SAPANA with the tools that we will have.
