Why did I get a violation notice from my HOA about the xeriscaping modifications in my front yard THAT THEY ALREADY APPROVED IN APRIL??? They're acting like I made a change without approval, but I did get approval BACK IN APRIL.
Also, why didn't they email about it? I only saw the violation notice because I logged in to pay for my (frankly, too-high) HOA fees on the portal.

You don't *have* to live in an HOA unless you're being forced there by someone else in your life & you have no/limited control in the situation. You *choose* to live in one. & you either choose because you're naive or there's something problematic about you that makes you *want* to live there. HOAs are micro dosing the police state. They aren't any safer than a regular neighborhood, just bossier. Usually racist over & undertones, same with sexism. Again, bossier - rules that give you homogeneity (the trappings that allow bigotry to thrive) & less freedoms as a home owner. If you're renting in an HOA, a dom/domme is cheaper & you're more in control of the scene.
The biggest issue is that a lot of municipalities have created laws that all new builds have to be part of HOAs. The local governments don't want to do their jobs of maintaining roads and are off-putting it onto HOAs. This means sometimes if you want to live in certain areas, most of your options are going to be in an HOA. Thus we should outlaw the HOAs.
I know this is the absolute least of our problems but the fact that we haven't disbanded TSA for being nothing but useless inconvenience dressed up as security theater absolutely chewing through tax dollars really makes me so mad in a way that I think embodies the spirit of new hampshire more than any loser living in an HOA with a live free or die bumper sticker and a don't tread on me flag
people who own houses have this strange way of working in to a conversation their identity as Homeowner as if it means they’re a more important kind of person who is specially entitled to something and the all-powerful feudal lord of their own stupid little kingdom who should be sung a special song and allowed to collect taxes, also a man from the 1950s with a nice car and a happy family he presides over. well i don’t think you’re any of those things and i hate you.
I firmly believe we need more colorful houses. Paint the outside bubblegum pink. Lime green. Neon blue. Do something fun for goodness sake

my family is moving, and in our new neighbourhood one of the neighbours seemingly keeps their halloween decor up all year. that’s not unheard of, but the specific decoration is a corpse in a cage hanging from their tree. and like I gotta say. I don’t really understand the reasoning behind that

i really am glad our family lives in an older part of this town (and that the town in general is pretty old and lived in) because it means there are many trees and plants and buildings. a city also wouldnt be too bad because generally those are also lived in but suburbs. seem like hell. i can't handle suburbs. not at all. who would want to live there. if youre rich why would you live there instead of an Actual Place. buy a lakeside house, there are lots of those in michigan. escape the HOA. you can do it. i believe in you
been fantasizing about owning my own place with a thriving native plants garden and so many websites are like "here are flowers that can POISON DEER so if you HATE DEER like I do PLANT THEM IN YOUR GARDEN". Um in my mind palace I will not be doing that because ☝️ deer are awesome
