So I may have joined a cult (and a pyramid scheme which I'm not a fan of lol), but I caved and joined a group from back home that is doing BeachBody's 80 day obsession. I'm super excited to start. I enjoy their programs, though expensive, and I am looking forward to starting 80DO with lots of support from our group. I'll try to keep y'all updated on here.
You've inspired me to exercise in the morning because I barely have time during the day, but I can't really get up early. How do you do it?!
Hey babe!
MORNING GYM IS THE BEST because it means that you will kick off your day with a kick-ass workout, and that will keep you on top of your game the rest of the day. Woop woop! That awesome post-workout glow, you know. #loveit
Here’s how to do it:
Go to bed early enough. I get up at 5AM in the morning for my workout, so I go to bed around 9PM and usually sleep before 10PM so that I will get at least 7 hours of sleep before my alarm wakes me up.
Put out your workout clothes the day before! This means that you won’t have to look around for that bra you want or your phone armband or where the fsck are those shoes now ARGH. Also, by putting out your clothes you are making a promise to yourself that you are actually going to use those clothes tomorrow morning. Can’t back down on that promise, dude!
Get a nice snack before you go to the gym. I always have a banana before I workout, and when I get back home (since I live 2 minutes from the gym) I have my protein bar/youghurt/other protein snack before I hit the shower. (i like fasted cardio, though. but never ever lift if you haven’t eaten! it makes me dizzy and i feel sick because my body really needs the nourishment to withstand the straining)
Get used to it. It really sucks the first couple of days, before you get used to it. As soon as you are in the flow you will start to really look forward to your morning workouts. It really IS the best way to start your day! :D And that energy you got the rest of the day? Booyah! It also mean that when you get home from work/school, you can just go lie down on the couch and slack and watch Netflix without feeling guilty because you already did workout today! Woop!
Allow yourself to break that promise (bullet #2) when needed. If you didn’t sleep last night, don’t workout. Sleep instead. If you feel sick, don’t workout. There are always reasons why it would be OK not to workout. Just don’t make a habit out of giving yourself free passes.
