I know I’ve had a massive rant about this on here before but today at work I got confronted by a customer who was asking if the only potties we have in stock are the pink ones, she then went on to explain how she had a boy, not a girl (although, I’d pretty much assumed as much at this point).
I informed her that, unfortunately, we only had the pink ones left in stock at the moment and went on to explain how they come in a box of mixed potties and that half are blue and half are pink, so we must have sold out of the blue ones. She then retorts with, “They come in a mixed box? What, so you’re telling me people are having more boys than girls?! Why don’t you just have them delivered separately with blue in one box for boys and pink in another box for girls?!”
I didn’t really know what to say at this point because inside my brain was going into meltdown, so i just repeated that all we had was out on the shelf and that we’d sold out of blue ones. She then went off and was talking to her friend loud enough for me to hear, moaning on about how we hadn’t got any blue ones and how she couldn’t possibly buy a pink one for her son.
In my head, all I kept thinking was, “Seriously? You’re seriously getting hung up over the colour of the object that your child is going to shit and piss in? Surely, the fact they got potty trained is much more important than worrying about what colour they’re doing it in. What’s she going to do if she can’t get a blue potty anywhere, wait for them to come back in stock and make her son wait to learn?”
