For context to people I've deleted my response to an anon claiming some bullshit because it made me too anxious to keep on my profile.

And to add on. I'm also currently living with my abusers, and they're often selfish emotional manipulators. Yet I'm not gonna call them narcissistic because they dont have npd I DO.

People with npd are more often the victims. That's not to say someone diagnosed is always the victim even when they're doing bad things, but that the npd is not the cause. They should take accountability not have it blamed on their diagnosis and npd is often developed out of abuse such as neglect.

Npd doesnt make me hurt people. It makes me tear myself apart. Every good day or moment I have is immediately followed by a bad one. Every compliment and ego boost I get is immediately responded with self doubt and a crash in self esteem which heightens things like depression and mood swings. Npd doesnt make me lash out. Npd doesnt make me manipulate my partners and friends into giving me attention. It makes me crave attention I was never given growing up and often things that are unachievable. It's a disorder that effects ME.

You wouldnt say someone who's autistic is an abuser because their disorder makes them lash out when overstimulated. Stop doing it for other disorders especially personality ones.

A complex isn't exactly something you can recieve a diagnosis for like you would a personality disorder, often these things are just symptoms and traits that stem from existing conditions that present themselves in different ways and happen to have patterns in people with the same conditions or comorbid conditions, most often when undiagnosed.

That's not to say a doctor *cant* give you the professional opinion that you may have a complex but more often than not they'll just tell you what's actually going on with you psychologically and why it effects your personality and behavior in the way the complex describes rather than outright saying "you just have x complex".

I happen to fall under a lot of them because I have a lot of comorbid and untreated conditions and all of these listed describe how the symptoms of my conditions present through my personality and behaviors.

But not everyone is going to be like that. Sure their behavior that falls under a complex stems from somewhere but it could just as well be how they were raised or their home environment growing up rather than an existing or undiagnosed condition (such as a parent complex or sibling complex for example). Maybe they do have a condition that it stems from maybe they dont.

All that to say a "complex" seems to have more of a social or societal root than an actual medical one. While a few terms might be coined by doctors back in the day a lot of them arent officially in any medical books on psychology.

I dont wanna say it's a pseudoscience but if it is it's one I find pretty amusing.

My personal list of a supply

These things personally provide me a narc supply/high and lift my mood. They might work for others but the work for me like 9/10 times.

1. Personalized praise and compliments

Things like your generic "you're so talented" or "you look good today" are too common to count as a supply for me. I prefer things much more personalized, like pointing out specific things such as praising the effort I put into writing or the way I shared a drawing or the way it drew my eyeliner or the top I'm wearing. Compliments that are actually tailored to me in that moment.

2. Competition.

I can be competitive. To the point losing sometimes ends up being the cause of a narc crash. Its a really good motivator to get me to be productive at times but it can also lead me to comparing myself and spiraling so it's a double edged sword. However when its something I can at least succeed at in some way like top 3 or I have more of x thing than y person in the end, that's good enough for me to not feel too bummed out and instead work as a supply.

3. Hyperspecific tasks.

I know for a fact I get a narc high when someone comes to me for something as if I'm an expert on the subject. I love showing off all the knowledge I've gathered so being given a very specific task such as providing instructions for plant care, making the right cup of tea, explaining lore for a certain character or figure in one if my special interest media, or something of the sort, can really help me feel more positive about myself.

4. Sharing.

When people share or give me things. For example if someone makes something for me either because I mentioned it's something i like, wanted or because they happened to think of me in relation to it, or if someone shares something they found because it made them think of me, that lifts my mood almost incredibly so. Even when my friends share tenor things with me such as food, makeup etc it makes me feel special.

5. Hate mail.

This one has much more of a 40/60 chance of working or not. But sometimes I'll get something that's rage bait or hate and laugh at how stupid it is because I know better and they're being an idiot (such as someone trying to fight me over a stance like my being anti endo because they spread misinfo), and it just makes me feel humorously better. Most times though it causes anxiety, so it really depends on the content and who is fronting.

Overall myself supply is just validation, inclusivity and being thought of, reassurance and being useful but in specific ways.

Of course theres my God complex and others but that's a whole other grandeur imo
