After 10 years, New York based fashion designer Robin Tomas married lawyer John Charles Cocchiarella last December 20 at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau. And showing support was Robin’s mother, comedienne and veteran actress Tessie Tomas. Robin believes that “like any relationships, same or different sex, it is work, coupled by respect, trust, compromise and love. It’s not something to be taken for granted.”
Long-term City of Manila resident Gregory Dorris met dancer Jorge Amparado sometime in 2002, at a gym in Malate in the City of Manila. “The best thing for me in this relationship is having the chance to know, care and love a special person that, for me, will be with me in my lifetime,” he said.
Benjie Marasigan met Reynel Portento in a somewhat unconventional manner. Benjie had a boyfriend, who wanted for them to have an open relationship. Reynel was, at that time, the supposed third wheel. But the two fell for each other, and – almost three years after they first met – what they have continues to strengthen.

MJ Ceñidoza first met Karen Anne Magtalas in November 2011, but the two fell for each other after a month. And as MJ states, their relationship is life-changing because it taught both of them to “be patient, and be more forgiving.”

Ida Ramos and Sandy Aloba were first introduced by friends in 1996 “because we kind of looked alike,” Ida recalls. Immediately falling for each other, they are now trying to form a family even with the challenges posed by society on those in LGBT relationships.
When Khai Meneses met Ivy Viray in an online social networking site in 2013, she said it was “love at first chat.” The two already had a Holy Union ceremony, and are looking at forming a loving family.
When Rajah met Allen in May 2013, at a feeding outreach program for less fortunate children in Guadalupe, Makati City, he believes it was providential. “Before we knew each other, ‘forever’ was something we only heard about but couldn't fathom. Now, because of the two of us in our world, we have everything, and we can’t imagine what we’d do without each other,” Rajah says.

Jheq Bacsal and Michael Ellis first “met” via the former’s Google+ post. But after that chance encounter, the two fell for each other and are now making plans to live as a happy couple in the Philippines, where Michael (an American) is finding happiness with both Jheq and a growing love for the Philippines.

Jaakko met Charlese in 2012, when he came to the Philippines while doing a TV documentary about the lives of transwomen. Both agree that, even at the onset, “people around us were telling us that there is already something going on there.” Two months after they first met, when Jaakko returned to Manila, they became an item. And now, “our love life is… most satisfactory and full of colours and imagination I never experienced before. I´m looking forward to grow also spiritually to new levels with my future wife,” Jaakko says.
In 2009, Mark Dio first met Sam via a gay dating social networking site. “I found him interesting, so I thought of some lame excuse to meet up with him in person,” he recalls, adding his surprise when “he let me come over. The only photo I had in my profile then was that of a dog!” The two eventually became an item, and are appreciative of what they have. “(In this relationship), we don’t just look at each other; we look in the same direction,” Sam says.

Both members of a clan, Rocky Cruz and Redeemer Muralla first just flirted with each other, which led to "tawagan and telebabad (calling each other, and chatting on the phone for long periods of time)." That eventually led to the two falling in love. They now aim to just enjoy each other’s company and see what lies in the future for both of them.

Drew Haya and Rorie Ann first met each other in 2012, when they were still both in self-described complicated relationships. But as soon as they became an item, they found happiness in each other’s arms. With what they have, Drew now says that “the key to have a happy life and happy relationship is to be true. No one will accept you except ‘you’. Just live a life that you love and be with the person who loves you and accepts you for who you are.”

Laix Enriquez and Xylem Corpuz show that love knows no gender as they continue celebrating - and sharing - their love. The biggest challenge that they face as a couple is the fact that people confuse them as a lesbian couple, which they are not. “Yes I am a woman, and yes he's a man stuck in the wrong body. But we never saw each other as simply as that” Laix says.

Transwoman Del Domingo first “met” transman Prince Bensan via Facebook in 2012, though it was only in 2013 when they really had the chance to properly communicate with each other. “I decided to just chat with him. And then I found out he’s a transman, so I said to myself, ‘Why not give it a try? I might like it',” Del smiled. As the two eventually fell in love, they highlight how love truly knows no bounds.

Jay Tuazon first met Carl Rosadino in 2013, when Carl vacationed in Davao City, where Jay is based. They ended up being in a long distance relationship, which both admitted is challenging, yet worth having. “We both enjoy being together. We believe that we live only once, so have a great time, enjoy the love, share your life, and only surround yourself with supportive and caring friends who influence the relationship positively,” Jay says.
