The sun bathed everything in sight in its warm rays, the vivid green hills starked against the bright blue sky while the vegetation casted its shadows on the grass.

Some animals dozed off in blissful nap lulled by the melody of crickets and birds chirping around the trees in a whirlwind of colorful feathers, whereas other cubs continued to play between the bushes, surrounded by the rainbow of wings of the butterflies and the busy bees buzzing around flowers collecting their nectar.

The bucolic landscape was a feast for the senses, a painting able to catch but the slightest part of that spectacle crafted by nature itself ruler Rhodolite luscious countryside.

“Look, it's a bee.” 

The little child exclaimed gleefully looking at it until it was out of their sight, his puffy hands following it until the bee flew into a beehive.

“They are sooo cute.” 

His hearty laugh filled the air, Luke’s eyes crinkled with affection as he smiled, his sturdy hands curled his fingers protectively on the child's plump tiny legs dangling on his chest.

“It is true right ? You also know what they do that we like ?”

“Honey.” 

His mirthful answer filled his heart with love. 

“I see you are such a good eater. I wonder who you take that taste from.” 

“Ehehe.” 

Their mirthful laughs melted in one as they crossed the hill.

The sight of Julie donned with an emerald dress never failed to make Luke's heart skip faster.

Eager to reach her he walked faster until they finally arrived in a clearing where a colorful perfumed picnic was spread beneath their eyes waiting for their return.

“I honestly thought you had forgotten your date in your wandering.”

Julie’s voice welcomed him as he kneeled in the grass helping their child get off his shoulder.

“You know it is impossible honey I could never forget what matters to me.” 

Luke took Julie in his arms brushing a soft kiss on her forehead, making her giggle. 

“Good to know ‘cause all this food it is not gonna eat itself ya know ?” 

Layl threw himself in her arms, promptly caught by her as she held him to her chest.

“Mama, I saw a bee today.”

“You weren't scared ?” 

Her bright green eyes trained on him as she wrapped her arms more firmly around the child bringing him onto her lap.

Layl shook his head.

“Not at all they are cute.”

“It is true right ? Moreover they make honey.”

“Papa told me the same.” 

Julie's laugh soon melted with Luke one, weirdness ran in their family after all but she did not mind.

Not at all.

Not when it brought them so much happiness.

When she least expected it she was enveloped in a bear hug from behind while soft kisses showered on her curls.

“I love you Julie. More than everyone and everything else.”

“I love you too Luke.” 

Julie raised her gaze to him, brushing her fingers on his cheeks perceiving uneasiness bubbling under his calmness.

“I won't stop at nothing to keep you two safe with me by my side.” 

A certain empty threat held his words dissipated only momentarily from the soft caress of her finger on his arms.

“I know.”

She leaned her head on his chest leaving a soft tender kiss on his heart above his shirt.

“Thank you.”

Moved by her words Luke hid his emotions by diving his face in her curls leaving a kiss on the top of her head, calming down under her touch softly caressing his chest.

“Thank you for everything.”

Luke pulled away, relaxing only at the sight of Julie's bright smile, taking delight in seeing her nuzzling in his chest while their son stretched closer to him.

A wholesome feeling of belonging filled his heart to the brim as he looked down at the two treasures he held in his arms, Luke brushed his fingers briefly on the auburn hair of Layl, who had just dozed off laying on his lap, before tightening his hold around Julie waist revelling in the way she curled on his chest.

His lips, eager to give her a proof of his love, landed tenderly on her raven curls, making her giggles, before lowering even down to plane on her forehead, pulling back only to cup her face keeping her up only to melt them on her lips, sharing a sweet kiss they parted reluctantly from.

The sun was way too hot to not elicit a well deserved relaxation Luke and Julie most eagerly enjoyed as they laid down on the tablecloth under the foliage, looking at one another with fond smiles.
