Joseph Mantynen told his story in Mendocino County Jail the day before he was sentenced to 26 years in prison for the death of his wife. A Mendocino County deputy sheriff shot and killed his wife in an armed standoff at a Ukiah motel room. But, Mantynen had “provoked” the deputy so he was held responsible for the death of his wife.
