@overdramatic-bulbasaur
the fact that we’re apes is SO funny… i can calculate how many parsecs away a nebula is based upon its apparent magnitude for a fun little brain exercise. i also feel depression and existential ennui if my curtains are shut for too long because my brain has a 45000 year old creature in it who feels that darkness holds too many unknown threats
this has gotten 500x more true this year

2020 has officially been the longest and shortest year I feel like I've dissociated through the entire thing my soul is still in april
Agdgsgsgsg I’m LIVING for this Reef2Reef thread. This guy was worried about his urchins getting sunburnt so he made them little hats
IT GETS BETTER
In the wild these urchins will in fact carry a small rock or shell exactly on top like this and im so happy there’s people taking advantage of that and who care about their urchins as pets.
i visited an aquarium at some point, and our tour guide told that when the staff had a party, they put a little decorative plastic hat from a booze bottle into the sea urching tank, and just left it there because the sea urchins liked it, and kept taking turns in wearing it.
Discovering that sea urchins wearing hats is a thing in this world means so much to me rn
ah...
physically i'm in july, but mentally i’m still processing february.

I’m learning my third language right now and the more I work on it, the more I’m glad that English is my native tongue because oh my god how does anyone learn the rules of this miserable cobbled-together nonsense that constantly has exceptions to its own rules and then exceptions to the exceptions
How has anyone learned to pronounce //a n y t h i n g// in English
All of you who learned English as a second language deserve an award and our apologies.
thank you that other day i learnt saloon is pronounced as saline and the only way to learn how to pronounce things in english is by being corrected by someone else bc you tried to pronounce a word logically
I hate to break it to you but at least in Ye Olde American English, saloon is sal-loon, saline is say-leen
The cycle of confusion continues

why’re giraffes so violent
most big herbivores are, frankly. if you have a pretty steady supply of food and don’t have to worry about missing a hunt and starving to death, you can afford to throw your weight around more and generally be more aggressive!
that’s why the most dangerous big animals in the world are almost all herbivores.
this is also why walking right up to these things in Jurassic Park would have been a fantastically bad idea
Sauropods would be fucking TERRIFYING and it annoys the hell out of me that media constantly portrays them as passive and harmless. That Indominus from Jurassic World would have been SLAUGHTERED against an Apatosaurus, let alone a whole HERD of them
