im not even surprised abt the update. i need you guys to understand people have PUT MORTAGES DOWN ON HOUSES funded through RMT from flight rising. people scam millions of gems by funneling through multi rings and rigging raffles. if you think rmt isnt a big enough deal to stamp down on raffles then you don't know how large of a scale these people operate on. i know people who used to RMT as full time employment.

I think it's kind of strange that FR's response to Wind being accused of conglomeration of East Asian cultures was to pick a source for the Cirrus that makes that worse. I would've thought perhaps they'd focus on tightening the scope to a singular culture since that's always been the major complaint but instead they make a big deal about incorporating another EA culture that's never even been mentioned before.

Though imo wind isn't nearly as bad as people think to begin with. Ironically some of the "mixing culture" complaints are themselves a result of people not actually understanding east Asia themselves. Wind is like 99% Japanese.

it still bothers me that the prevailing thought is that disliking everlux's Anatomy MUST be solely because they are fat, when I'm fairly certain the issue for most people was that they were bugs shaped in a way they are not normally shaped.

I don't care that Everlux are fat. I love Snappers and Bogsneak. But snaps and bogs are based off creatures that have hide and muscle and bone. They are well equipped to hold all of those insides no matter howbthey are shaped. Everlux are visually evocative of creatures that will explode into goo if you squeeze them a little too hard.

Like. There is a big difference here. I don't think anyone would be nearly so bothered if they weren't bugs. I don't like everlux for the same reason I don't like those really big caterpillars but that has nothing to do with how I feel about dugongs or human beings, it's just upsetting to look at something my brain tells me will turn inside-out.

i decided to do a school project on FR at the life cycle of the site where people aren't mad so they aren't writing thinkpieces on beef they have. this is devastating to no one but myself.

I've never seen a community as good at moralizing every single situation as FR. By the way people were talking about Sinclair you'd think someone beat their cat to death with a rock.

i don't know how to explain this to you guys, but people who dislike sinclair don't just get to ignore it when flight rising is based around a player-to-player economy.

i can't just ignore that the swipp items i used to make most of my gems from are now 1/10th the value.

"just ignore it" doesn't work on features that fundamentally change the entire site's economy.

ignoring sinclair does as much good as ignoring joxbox and then wondering why fest apparel doesn't make you as much money as it did in 2015.

Some thoughts expanding on my critique of the recton.

While, yes, it removed the explicit colonization of beastclans, there's no real way to remove the implicit colonization. Any meaningful conflict between dragons and beastclans will always be between the species that was divinely created and subsequently claimed the entire continent for themselves vs the less advanced, native population who are now involved in a completely unrelated war because their territory has been completely consumed and is controlled by the gods of that divine species.

The implication of dragon manifest destiny has been replaced with the implications that beastclans are having their homes torn apart and are just... happy to let it happen? Because they're friends with dragons, now? There's no resentment from harpies in the Windswept Plateau that their messages to loved ones in Dragonhome are getting ambushed and raided? That there's no organizing of Serthis or Centaur against the fact that Plague and Nature are literally sending terrorists into each other's homelands?

And, okay, perhaps you might say that the beastclans may instead have grown alongside dragons gaining the same allegiance as them - except this isn't true! Ancient harpies never even knew dragons, and they still have a unified political faction under Talona to this day.

Pretty much all of the fundamental aspects that made dragons and beastclans have that colonization dynamic still exist, the only difference is that now they're not literally ordained by the gods to do so. And in exchange for what? What have we meaningfully gained from staff having to no doubt re-work the site's narrative future, from having out-of-place site features that now make no sense, from removing the only currently relevant source of sitewide conflict?

Honestly, I don't think it was anything other than lore that could have existed regardless and the ability to pretend that everything is fixed.

And before anyone @'s me about this: no, I don't think FR is "woke" or "too boring" without racism. I just wonder if maybe there could, or should, have been a different way to go about this.

I wish people who hated the beast clan retcon weren't certifiably insane. I think there's genuine criticism to be had about it n how it was handled but the anti-retcon ppl really make it hard for anyone to be taken seriously
