velvette throws up her hands, the charms on her pointed nails clicking together in time. "uh, thank you! i've been saying she's a putrid little engagement-sink this entire fucking time!" with a flick of her wrist, velvette drags a thick purple cross through the girl's simpering face on vox's big screen (one of them, the one that's most important, the one he hooks her up to during meetings). "val won't say anything to her 'cause of her giant fucking tits, vee. look at- look at this, right," she leans over, pulling up a bedazzled graph. the findings may be doctored, but vox fucking loves graphs. chances are he's already rock hard and open-eared. "i can't say i see why this is where you draw the line, vincent." alastor sits on his haunches, crisp white shirt buttoned back at his elbows. this process does make quite a mess, he'll admit, but the both of them don't much read as men who loathe to get their hands dirty. "as a boy i was always told 'waste not, want not' - is that not a lesson they see fit to impart on you over in the midlands?" his head tilts, something coy and just this side of antagonistic sitting at the corner of his upturned mouth. "no matter. if we dilly-dally by teaching you basic ettiquette, we'll be here all night, and i do prefer to get all this tidied up before the witching hour."
he hums a laugh at his own private joke, leaning over the sticky sigils once more, elevated by one firm hand planted between the bloodied lines of the thing. "be a dear and nudge that candle just a tad to my left, hm?" alastor says, sweet as anything, before dipping two light fingers into the chest of the dead man at his hip. "this is going to need one last coat." @populied.

"you tried these? take a couple. you're not you when you're a hangry little bitch."
he shifts lazily, kicking both feet up onto vox's desk. "i don't need to fuckin' be here. you know that, right? could just wipe your whole ugly-ass city off of the map if i felt like it." when it's clear no one's bringing him a napkin - fuck, no table service? - he shrugs and reaches for another wing, tearing flesh from bone with a low, sliding rip. "you keep getting all pissy and i'm outski. like, donezo, upstairs, bye-bye." @populied.

the thick smell of burning rubber has invaded the space around them, billowing clouds of black and red smoke choking all visibility with one sure fist. pentious whips over his shoulder toward her voice, the sparking pistol in his hands fighting with itself to stay intact. the thick tendril of his body undulates and rises, an effort to see over all the calamity. as it is, it only makes his eyes water. "is that so, miss bomb? funny - to do so, you'd have to cease this cowardly skulking and show yourself!"
two shots ring clear, the jetstream of pentious' heavy bullets carving clean lines into the smoke. "i don't remember you being too adept in close quarters, my dear. always off somewhere with your projectiles." the cracked plastic of his weapon creaks dangerously in complaint when he adjusts his grip. pentious fans his neck-frill out further, an effort to catch the sounds of cherri's footsteps over the din of his collapsing workshop. "are you brave enough to prove me wrong?" @veestowers.

he doesn't know why alastor insists on speaking in riddles. he has this theory that alastor knows nothing he's saying is all that interesting, and he has to compensate for that by forcing his listeners to solve a puzzle every time he speaks. not that it's hard for vox, but you know, it's pretty fucking unnecessary. thinking about the vees makes it easier to focus on what can pass for a compliment and not how much he hates this pretentious ass man -- "her name is velvette. and velvette is very talented, pulls in more viewers within two minutes of starting a stream -- that means going live, old man -- than your little show does all week! and she doesn't even need to use cheap gimmicks! i'll pass the compliment onto her, not that it means much coming from you."
alastor's smile trembles with glee. "i'd expect she pulls more viewers than i do, vincent - you know, with my show being audible?" the tiniest pitfall alastor could imagine, yet big enough even still for him to plant both stubborn feet inside. "i dread to think you've been tuning in on occasion hoping to feast your eyes. no matter, at least you know now!"
he drags the heel of his shoe along the floor, a soft rasp of noise he hopes starts to grate after a while. the speakers amplify it just enough to have the room itself whispering over their shoulders. "i'll tell her myself, no doubt. your little friends flit around in search of stimulation a fair bit. they're rather fascinating conversationalists. not because they're very clever, you understand, but because they're so willing to spill."
"it's always hot at these places." his fans have been whirring for a minute now, cooling from the inside out that has nothing on the heat they probably pump in to make people buy more drinks. and here vox is falling for it, more fool him. he doesn't even drink when he's alone, really -- it makes him a little too cute for his liking. when he has someone else to bounce off of, though, he can appreciate the lightheadedness. and he can always appreciate a sweet drink, so knocking back a few gulps of this one is easy.
he always struggles to keep his hands to himself where val's concerned, and it's harder still when val sounds this good; he shifts his drink to one hand and offers the other to val. he wants to pull him close, spin him around, open containers be damned, but it is hot, and they've got all night. he never gets to take val out, not really, so he's doing it on val's schedule. the work will still be there in the afternoon, when his system's done draining out the alcohol, and he can't necessarily say the same about val's good mood.
"you need water. or a break. or, i don't know, more drugs. take your pick."
valentino doesn't often laugh. not when there's no one around to point at, anyway. instead, he breathes an airy scoff, taking vox's hand with one of his lower arms. despite the heat, he feels a chill. "i do not need more drugs," he says automatically, sharp and rolling his eyes even as he coaxes vox into tugging him closer, the cut of his corset rolling smooth along vox's outstretched arm. maybe he needs a body on him. the extra pressure between his thighs is just as likely to regulate him as anything else is.
"if you're offering..." somehow it's easier when val's too close to watch himself be watched. the idea of pushing himself out of his head swells somewhere in his throat and sticks. he knocks his forehead gently into the side of vox's screen. wish this dumb motherfucker had an ear to bite. "you want me to get all fucked up for you?" val drags the upper hand that doesn't hold his drink across vox's lapel, tugging just enough to startle. "you're trying real hard to loosen me up."
i don't often write little thoughts or asides but with val it's so common. i call it his "inner val" because even just in my head when i'm thinking about him he talks to himself exactly like he'd talk to one of his employees. there's a constant self-examination and critique and goading and provoking and tearing down going on in his mind and i think it has something to do with why he's in a fucking rancid mood all the time unless he's actively hurting someone else or being showered in attention

he doesn't love it. doesn't even like it, really. he's long since grown accustomed to pop-ups and side-screens and half-flashes of other streams in his audiovisual ports, and he's scrambling in their absence. he's staving off an errant glitch, hitting the side of his head the way he did when he first died ( it worked back then, but with the newer tech, it mostly just shakes his screen ), and val's sat on the bed like this is a normal bit of foreplay for them. he focuses on val, swears under his breath when he feels his cameras swivel in their direction as if they'll capture anything but black.
val's been pretty patient, all things considered, and vox is trying to appreciate that. he loves looking at val. he could spend hours staring at val. and he does! which is apparently the problem. keep the complaints to a minimum. he focuses on val, pulls up his overhead camera by habit, groans when the corner of his vision gets covered. thinking about everything he's missing is going to kill him. he focuses on val. " okay ! we're good ! we're good? "
valentino honestly hadn't thought it would be this hard. it can't be all that different from every time vox plucks val's galsses off of his face, sets them down on the shapeless nightstand in the shapeless room with his shapeless hands (or wires, or teeth, or whatever it is vox uses when val's trussed up pretty). he almost wishes somewhere along the way he'd taken them off himself tonight if only so he had a fuzzier view of the nuclear meltdown that is vox without a sense. "just fine, papi."
he's done really well. hasn't checked his nails since the caps went on, and he's trying so hard not to drawl or whine. where his legs are crossed, he's rubbing a little rhythm into his own skin - half to give vox something to look at and half to keep himself from going crazy. how fucking difficult is it to look at the hottest comodity in the room? val bites the inside of his cheek, upper hands flat against the sheets, fingers clenching the silk into his palm and releasing again slow, over and over. "like, i'm good. i don't know if you're good."
