11 Bits of Wisdom from Eckhart Tolle
1. Doing is never enough if you neglect Being.
2. What you react to in others, you strengthen in yourself.
3. Attachment to things drops away when you no longer seek to find yourself in them.
4. The past has no power over the present moment. When you surrender to what is and so become fully present, the past ceases to exist. You do not need it any more.
5. Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose.
6. You are not ‘in the now’; you are the now. That is your essential identity–the only thing that never changes.
7. Is there a difference between happiness and inner peace? Yes. Happiness depends on conditions being perceived as positive; inner peace does not.
8. Sometimes letting things go is a far greater act of power than defending or hanging on.
9. Neither failure nor success has the power to change your inner state of Being.
10. You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.
11. I cannot tell you any spiritual truth that deep within you don’t know already. All I can do is remind you of what you have forgotten.
Namaste.
You can run out of choices And still hear a voice in your head When you’re lying in bed And it says that the best part of a bad day Is knowing it’s okay The color of everything changes The sky rearranges it’s shade And the smile doesn’t fade Into the phone call And one bad decision we’ve made And the worst part of a good day Is the one thing you don’t say
Adam Duritz
You have to work out whether your roots are to become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the desire to mate every second of the day. It is not lying awake at night imagining that they are kissing every part of your body. No … don’t blush. I am telling you some truths.
Louis de Berniéres, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin
“Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy.
Ralph Marston
Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.
Maya Angelou
Eat like you love yourself. Move like you love yourself. Speak like you love yourself. Act like you love yourself.
Tara Stiles
—I conversed with you in a dream
Sappho, If Not, Winter (tr. by Anne Carson)
We don’t always get the luxury of having closure. Sometimes things just end. There’s not always a rhyme or reason for why they do, they just do.
Ashleigh Catibog-Abraham
