"What are you most proud of with your writing process?"

I'm proud that I was able to use some of the skills from this class, in unison with skills for learning/creating web writing from other classes, to write better essays in another class. Thinking critically about my writing process helped me revise my process for revision, revise my methods of creating outlines and filling them in, improve my ability to change my use of language and style of writing depending on the situation, etc. I feel that I've significantly improved my ability to convey messages, especially in the context of switching my writing style for the audience/context.

What do you like most about your learning?

What I liked the most about my learning in this class is that I get to do is designing my own PowerPoint templates because I have done that in the past before and I’ve enjoyed it a lot.

My Writing Process!

The thing I'm most proud of when it comes to my writing process is the way I've been able to change it this semester. When it comes to academic writing, I used to take the "get it all done at one time" approach. And while that did work for me, I tried to do a "little bit at a time" approach this semester. It actually worked out really well for me! I already used that process for creative writing (obviously you can't write a book in one sitting!) but applying it to my academic writing was new. It went well and I think going forward in my last semester I will continue using that process!

Q: peer feedback: where can we help?

A: When it comes to peer feedback, I think there are a few areas where we can help each other improve. One area where feedback could be useful is in the clarity of my writing. Sometimes, I know what I want to say, but I may not express it in the most understandable way. Having someone point out sections that are unclear or confusing would really help me tighten up my ideas.

A: I'm most proud of how much I've improved in my ability to revise and refine my writing throughout the process. Early on, I used to think that a draft should be perfect right from the start, but over time, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of revision. I now focus on getting my ideas down first, even if they're rough, and then going back to refine them. This approach has allowed me to develop a more fluid and flexible writing process, where I can improve clarity, coherence, and overall flow in subsequent drafts.

explain the appeal of long youtube videos (10+ minutes), why do viewers watch? How do the creators make choices to engage the audience?

There can be a lot of different reasons why people watch longer YouTube videos. I know for me, it’s because I am a nerd and will sit down and watch Lord of the Rings lore explanation videos, and that may be the case for some others too. I do think the biggest reason people sit down and watch long YouTube videos is because they want to learn something, and that can’t always be done in a short amount of time. Creators will often use flashy colors, short videos in their own videos, and other different visual elements in their content. Most of them also will only do voice over work which means their entire video is comprised of other people’s work.

When listening to a long podcast, the main appeal would be topic that are being talked about. Depending on your interest, you can just listen to them while you’re at work or driving a car without getting distracted watching a screen. These creators make the active choice of choosing topic they are interested in that maybe the audience might be interested in because it kind of like listening into another person’s conversation.

how did content creation go for you? What did you learn that will help you write about your tips & tricks?

For me, I have to do a lot of retakes because I tend to mix up my words on camera. I do try to be more comfortable in looking at the camera to try to show confidence to some degree. Right now, when making a video I’ve learned that you need confidence.

Content creation is hard! I respect those who do it because you have to stay committed to finishing the video. I noticed that I would start a video and make an introduction. But then halfway through my makeup routine, I realized I forgot to hit record again and you can not continue a video with so many steps already completed. It is also hard to figure out, what you want to talk about within the video while you are getting ready.

post a tip or trick you are offering in your guide that is useful to all of us!

The most useful tip and trick that I have that the creators don’t do right now is to put their own thoughts into the news they post about. The creators that I am researching are all movie news based so they always post the news without their own thoughts. I think posting their own thoughts could allow the creators to open up the kind of content. This could also allow more of a discussion in the comments which would increase interactions.
