I already left a reply like it was asked, my feedback, and was ignored like so many people are being.
@changes, do you have any idea why so many people still use this platform despite its flaws? Why so many people from twitter left and joined this site?
Over there, when you make a post, other people can repost or quote repost If you repost, you spread that person's work without messing with the numbers, meaning the engagement is there. if you want to praise the work, you do so in the replies. When you quote repost, you essentially 'steal' that work, all the likes and reposts disappear just because you have to say something about it and if someone reposts the quote repost, it doesn't reach the op.
There is an unspoken rule among content creators that you NEVER quote repost a work. Because if I write something and get 100 reposts, that's amazing, but if someone with a bigger audience quote repost my work, even if it's just to say they liked it, the people who repost from that bigger and more popular account will generate more engagement than my small account ever will and I will not get the the same numbers and that also means small content creators get their work stolen and lost in the quote reposts.
"Oh but they see who the OP is". that's not the point. that's not the point at all.
Creating for yourself first and foremost is important, but wanting to share that work and see how well it does is also important. Reblogs, comments and likes are basically food for content creators.
By doing this, by going through with this change, you are harming the very people that still support and use this website. It's incredibly discouraging. What's the point of posting something we did (in most cases, FOR FREE) if someone with a bigger audience reblogs it and THEY get the attention that was supposed to be ours?
"So it's just about numbers", yes and no. Most people are creating fanwork here, as i've said, for free. Our encouragement to keep writing comes from the feedback we get. If someone reblogs any of my posts, it's awesome. If someone reblogs and writes in the tags their thoughts, that's even better. I've lost count of how many times reading the tags of a reblogged post made my entire day.
You're literally taking that from us and you're killing small blogs, you're killing the very reason why people still use this platform. EVERY CREATOR NEEDS SOME KIND OF ENGAGEMENT.
You're destroying that, you're harming your user base, and as I've said in the replies, you're harming creativity itself because what's the point of posting something, getting a few but very much appreciated reblogs until someone with more followers break that chain and basically get the attention, numbers and engagement the creator deserved?
This is a terrible idea, unnecessary and most of all, UNWANTED.
You say "we hear you" but you do not hear shit. NO ONE WANTS THIS. NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS. THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM TO BE FIXED. This is the equivalent of getting a blown tire and fixing it by painting the car. IT SOLVES NOTHING.
