Welsh Wassail Mulled Cider for Yule 🍃🎻🌿✨
This traditional recipe for Yule wassail, a holiday mulled cider, is a great addition to any Yule gathering, and would be lovely to brew in a large pot to share with your coven! This Welsh recipe for wassail always reminds me of their caroling tradition of the Mari Lwyd. So, if the Mari Lwyd shows up at your door with folks singing carols, let them in for good luck, and share this wassail with them!
For this recipe, you will need:
1 Gallon of Apple Cider
1 Tbs ground cloves
1 1/2 Tbs ground ginger
1 Tbs of ground nutmeg (or 1 whole nutmeg)
2 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise pods
Handful of allspice berries
2 Oranges sliced
Instructions:
In a large pot, bring apple cider to a boil.
Next, add all of the spices, and slice one of the oranges and toss the slices into the pot too. You can also thinly slice half of an apple and toss them in too.
Allow this to simmer for about an hour. This will also act like a holiday summer pot and make your house smell divine as it cooks! Then reduce the heat and let it simply warm on low heat on the stove for 2 more hours. Stir occasionally.
Strain the cider with a cheese cloth or cotton cloth to remove the loose spices and then quickly return it to the pot on the stove to keep it warm.
Serve while still warm with an orange slice and cinnamon stick (and/or sprig of pine) for garnish.
I hope you all had a wonderful Yule, and hopefully you can add this Yuletide tradition to yours, from my grimoire to yours! Blessed be, lovelies! 🌲☕️🍃

Non-Alcoholic Mulled Wine for Yule
Y u l e is a time of great symbolism and power. It marks the return of the sun, when the days finally begin to get a little longer. Enjoy this hot heavenly drink with traditional Yule spices & help yourself to the delicious fruity remnants!
For the base I used hibiscus tea. If you want to substitute it, you can use various types of juice (apple, cherry, grape, pomegranate, chokeberry, blackcurrant, etc) but make sure the juice is not too sweet.
Ingredients: - Hibiscus Tea: 500 ml - Water: 500 ml - 1 Orange - 5 teaspoons of honey
Spices: - 1 cinnamon stick - 6-8 whole cloves - Anise Star -2 stars Optional: nutmeg, ginger, or/and vanilla pods for extra sweetness in next year.
If possible, try using cinnamon sticks, anise stars etc, rather then milled spices, if you don’t wan the ‘wine’ to look muddy.
Boil water in the kettle (I boiled 1 litre at once). Separate into two pots. I had hibiscus tea in tesbags, and i used four of them. Let the tea brew. Meanwhile, put another pot on the stove and add spices; let them have a nice one minute bath in the boiling water.
Cut the orange, add it to the water with spices; pour in the tea. Add honey and stir until it is dissolved.
Best served hot, with gingerbread.

🌿🎃Samhain Pumpkin Seed Banishing Spell🎃🌿
Hello my greenies! Happy Samhain! This is a wonderful holiday for us witches and I’m so excited to share this lovely treat that I snack on throughout the season. Its a family tradition to cook pumpkin seeds and eat them on halloween and I’ve turned it into a witchy tradition of mine as well. I hope you all enjoy the recipe and have a wonderful holiday!
These seeds are to help banish bad omens and negativity around you. This could be from spirits, people, or yourself. Either way, these seeds will help strengthen your core and grow inside you.
***there aren’t going to be exact measurements because it depends on how many pumpkin seeds you have, but don’t worry because you’ll be able to judge it by site.
Ingredients
pumpkin seeds
large bowl
baking sheet
around 2 tbsp butter
salt
black pepper
butter
garlic powder
Directions
Place the seeds in a bowl and rinse them with warm water. Pick off any excess pumpkin attached to the seeds and drain the water.
Place the seeds on a paper towel, baking sheet, or any space and pat them dry and then leave them out for about 15 min.
Preheat ovan for 350 degrees f
Place them in a bowl and place around 2 tbsp of butter (it might need more bc of the size, but just make sure all the seeds are coated nicely in butter.
Give a couple swirls of salt, until they’re fully covered. Then lightly dust the seeds with garlic powder and a few pinches of pepper.
Make sure you mix thuroghitly so that all the seeds are evenly covered. While you mix say the chant at the end of the post, or use your own, and focus a orange red color onto the seeds. Give them a powerful color or one you associate with strength, and fuel it with the desire to no longer be controlled by a suffocating shadow.
Place on a baking sheet and make sure they’re evenly spread out. Place the sheet in the oven and cook for around 15 min. Keep an eye on it and wait until they’re golden. My seeds always like to cook through different times, so make sure you’re paying attention to them.
Once done, take them out and wait for them to cool down. Then enjoy:)
Chant:
I am more than what you make me. Let these seeds grow, let them root in my depths and rip away the weight of this shadow latched to me. Banish harmful words, harmful people, and let me be reborn.
I hope you all have a wonderful Samhain and wish you all the best. I hope we can overcome these struggles together and let this beautiful time of year rejuvenate our souls.
- Kenzie
p.s. I will be getting to all the trick or treats as fast as I can. There are quite a lot of them, but don’t worry! I will be getting to all of them. This is the last day to ask and any after October 31st will not be counted (just because there are a lot for me to do.)
Love you all!
