A/N: Not so toxic Tamsy like the other fics
You’d recently joined the cleaners as a supporter, having a similar job to Eisha by working in the infirmary. It was fairly peaceful even with the occasional cleaner bursting in with guts spilling out; You got to learn more about medicinals with Eisha and she even invited you to get lessons from Alice with her! It was a stable and enjoyable job to say the least.
Tamsy had taken notice of you about a week into your employment, having met you in the common room during a party Riyo had thrown for no particular reason. He introduced himself smoothly, mostly to assess your value or threat, and ended up getting wrapped up in a conversation with you. Without noticing it he felt himself being drawn to the way your lips moved while you spoke, or how the sound of your laugh brought forth an unfamiliar warmth in his chest.
Maybe it was the alcohol he’d consumed, which in all honesty wasn’t that much, but he felt like a moth drawn to a flame. He ended up making a few playful comments that you reciprocated, and it only encouraged him further. You intrigued him more than he anticipated, and he decided he wanted to get closer to you. For grand scheming, is what he told himself. But of course, that was a lie.
The next morning he visited you in the infirmary, apologizing for making inappropriate comments and claiming he enjoyed your company. Once he checked his watch, he’d realized you’d been talking for hours about unimportant topics he never would’ve cared for until you mentioned them. Days turned into weeks, and he found himself hanging out with you far more often.
He was comfortable with you, comfortable enough that a small part of him wanted to tell you the truth of his intentions with the others. Though the logical part of himself knew you might take it the wrong way, so he kept silent. He thought it might be good for his mind to have someone to actually trust and talk to, humans crave intimacy after all; And he was human, mostly.
Lo and behold, the charmer himself Enjin just had to insert himself into your life. The first time you met Enjin was at Alice’s, where you, Eisha, and Tamsy were learning about antiseptics made from different medicinals. Tamsy only agreed to tag along because you’d be there, and not at all because he found Alice’s loud berating amusing. The door flung open revealing a limping Enjin, blood pouring from a wound on his thigh as he flashed a faltering smirk asking for some help.
Alice and Eisha agreed it’d be good for you to practice on a real patient after going by textbooks for hours, so you were assigned to do the job while they supervised. That’s how you ended up sliding down on your knees holding a med kit. Tamsy, for one, absolutely despised this position no matter how professional he acted. Enjin wasn’t a saint, even in these situations.
“This might burn a bit.” You mumbled under your breath while pouring an antiseptic over the wound. It was deep but didn’t cover a large area, so a few stitches would do. Enjin couldn’t help but notice the flush creeping up your neck and tinting your ears, his smirk growing into a grin as he leaned back on his palms. “You blushin’? No need to be shy, sweet thing.” His tone dropped an octave and he brushed a few stray strands of hair behind your ear.
“M’ not blushing, and stay still.” The redness in your face only got worse as you tried to focus on doing your job. Alice and Eisha had left to attend to other matters, leaving you, Enjin, and Tamsy alone. You prepared the thread and needle and started to stitch the gaping wound carefully. Tamsy felt almost livid that Enjin was daring to flirt with you; YOU, the one person he had let himself trust partially after all this time sworn to secrecy.
He approached and crouched down beside you, gingerly placing a hand on your shoulder and watching your work. “You’re stitching too shallow, it’s more likely to break then. I’d suggest you go deeper.” He guided you carefully, casting an irked glance up at Enjin who shrugged lazily. “R-Right, sorry.” You were distracted from being this close to Enjin, but even more so with Tamsy’s hot breath fanning your neck.
You managed to tie off the thread and bandage Enjin’s thigh without incident, with him thanking you with an overly flirtatious tone just to piss Tamsy off before leaving. Good riddance. As much as Tamsy appreciated him as a pawn in his game with Rudo, he couldn’t stand the thought of him getting any closer to you than he already was.
Later that evening you’d come over to Tamsy’s room just to hang out, sitting on his bed brushing his hair while death metal played from his radio nearby. “Do you know the name of that guy earlier?” You asked in an attempted nonchalant tone, even with the obnoxious blush returning from earlier that Tamsy could catch from a mile away. Even with the sound of your voice he knew you were getting shy.
“It’s Enjin. Why do you ask?” His tone was clipped and almost accusatory, glancing over his shoulder at you with a calculating look. You froze for a moment before returning your attention to his hair, which you were now brushing with far extra care now that he was watching you. “I don’t know. He was kinda cute, no? I like his tattoos.” Your voice decreased in volume as you went on, wanting to cave into yourself with embarrassment. “Forget I said anything.”
A solid minute of silence passed with the only thing breaking it being the guttural vocals of the lead singer. Rock on, brother. “I would hate to see Enjin take advantage of you, he’s known to get around.” He sounded almost concerned if it weren’t for the underlying possessiveness lacing his tone. “He ‘gets around’?” You repeated slowly as if the realization was dawning on you.
“Mhm, he’s not one for commitment. He may be somewhat attractive, but I don’t think he’s right for you.” Enjin was an ideal partner and he knew that, but he couldn’t help but paint him in a bad light just so you’d steer your attention away from him. “I guess you’re right.” You pursed your lips in thought, setting the brush aside and running your fingers through his silken hair. He smiled warmly at your agreement, internally celebrating the small victory.
Snaking his arms around your waist he pulled you into his lap, leaning back against the headboard and tracing lazy patterns on your lower back. It would’ve been a friendly gesture if it weren’t for his inner turmoil. You let out a peaceful sigh and returned the embrace, exhausted from a full day’s study with Alice. That woman almost gave you a concussion when you almost answered an impossibly confusing question wrong.
“I could treat you much better.” He couldn’t contain the thought any longer, stroking your hair gently and holding your gaze as if he hadn’t said something that could change your relationship forever. “Hm?” You cocked a brow at him questioningly, mind going blank before he continued riskily. “In a relationship, I could treat you much better than Enjin ever could. If you’d like, of course.” The option had crossed your mind more than once, an actual relationship with Tamsy.
Immense satisfaction came when he noticed you blushing just as hard if not harder than you did with Enjin. He reveled in your embarrassment and held you closer, lips ghosting over your ear as his voice lowered. “Would you like that, dear?” A shudder shot up your spine before you nodded, hiding your face in the crook of his neck. He chuckled softly and resumed stroking your hair, settling in for the night with you finally in his arms in a non-friendly way. “Good. You’re mine now, hm?”
“I won’t let you leave.”
A/N: I’m so freaking tired I tried falling asleep TWO HOURS AGO before I got this suggestion and felt too inspired to go to bed </3 Also Reader blushes a lot for some reason, ignore it.
