sometimes I think too hard about like. how the ability to record audio fundamentally changed how humans interact with music. can you imagine if the only time you ever heard music in your whole life was when you or another human being in your actual physical presence decided to create it. and 99.99% of the time that person was not a professional but just like your wife or your dad or your co-worker or church choir singing or playing whatever they happened to know. i honestly don't think we can fathom it

I drew these last year for the initial sharing of VILE (the new play we're developing about Jane Boleyn, Lady Rochford) but I realised I never shared them myself and now feels like an apt time to try and remember people have always been different and diverse throughout history.

I've added in the Disability Pride flag and Neurodivergent Pride flag, alongside the LGBTQIA+ flags that I drew last year 🖤

I think I want to do a series of these flag drawings from different eras (Victorians, Georgians, Medieval etc) to go alongside this Tudor style one.

one of my professors was like (paraphrasing) "AI makes you sound the same as everybody else. The idea of a single "correct" English is racist and flattens the diversity of people. I don't care about grammar outside of the writing being understandable. I want to hear YOUR voice, Your dialect the unique way you communicate."

I have been more appreciative of the rough edges of human communication since chatGPT came to be. The misspellings and turns of phrase that real people produce.
