Would you do a tutorial of your style/your drawings if your poor fans asked? (You don't even need to know how to make a tutorial) 😭❤

I’m not against the idea, but I’m just worried that these tutorials will drain me just as much as the usual pieces of advice, perhaps even more, and then I simply won’t finish them

I don’t know, for me a good tutorial is one where you explain the reasoning behind your actions, so that anyone following it can understand it and not just mindlessly copy it time and time again, but adapt it to their own situation.

An even bigger problem is that I myself don’t know everything; there are some things I’ve frankly ignored and haven’t learnt, so in most cases, after the sketching or line art stage, I just trust the process and do what I think will look good. I do apply the knowledge I have, but if you ask me how I do this or that, I simply can’t explain it, because that’s a skill I’ve yet to master. When I’m asked for advice or a tutorial, I start looking for books, reading them, and then, as best I can, explaining it in a simple and brief way in my posts.

I could, sort of, show how I do things without any explanation — just a process video — but then it wouldn’t be informative enough. But if I start explaining, I’ll, as always, make it all too complicated for myself, incomprehensible to others, and I’ll waste time and energy only to end up with a pretty mediocre result...

I started off wanting to redraw the background from scratch, but then I just didn’t have the energy for it. So, I kept it simple: just edited the photo and drew the character on top, then blended it all together during post-processing. I found the image on Google Maps.

It was all a bit of a ‘trust the process’ sort of thing, but I did enjoy working on it.

Generally speaking, I just LOVE browsing Google Maps and saving all sorts of photos for reference or inspiration. It’s my little hobby and a way to unwind on stressful days. You can find a million things there for ideas, from ordinary backgrounds to colour palettes and textures; I’ve used some of them to create textured brushes.
