Colleen Moore’s fairy tale castle dolls’ house. Moore was one of the most successful silent film stars (famous for popularising the ‘Dutch boy’ bob), and she started creating this dolls’ house in 1928. She enlisted the help of professional planners and architects, such as Horace Jackson, the set designer at First National Studios. The entire house can be broken down into individual pieces and packed into specially designed shipping crates, and from 1935 to 1939 Moore took the dolls’ house on tour through the U.S. to help raise money for children’s charities, which proved hugely successful. Moore gave the dolls’ house to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago in 1949.

🔥baby i’m the walking dead

vampire au! the fic i put down to go work on my exorcist/evil dead/lolita fic and now i can’t go back until i finish e/ed/l because there are two instances of scenes with the same broad concept, and i’d rather rework them in vampire fic knowing their final forms in e/ed/l than vice versa

not the only vampire au that exists in my head, but for this one my purpose was inflicting the horrors of child vampirism on will and el. live forever as you are in season 1 while everyone else gets to grow. i think that would be really hard for both of them. this particular one would be a turning origin story for will. very puppy-ish moments between him and mike (a sharing comic books and referencing fairytales romance, the sort of thing you don’t realize was potentially gay until a few years later). mike believes he can do anything and henry is very selfish. a have a barebones rough draft of an el/nancy fic where el has a crush clouded with bitterness about how she won’t ever get to be Nancy’s age in the same verse

this feels like the best place to mention the mind flayer is implied to be a vampire of the classic nosferatu or master from btvs mold

since this doesn’t specify which one i’m gonna assume you meant doll heart. okay so in the mid 80s marvel published a child sexual abuse awareness psa book. spider-man tells a child with an inappropriate babysitter a story about a boy who is molested by an older teenager (named skip) and found the courage to tell his family. there’s a “and that boy was me” type “twist”. i don’t think it ever comes up again and many people don’t consider it canon. the point of that comic wasn’t to create canon lore, it was made for abused children who look up to spider-man to think “if spider-man can get help so can i.” but in a fandom space this does create a convenient opportunity to use peter parker to talk about the long term mental impact of childhood sexual abuse, even though this issue likely hasn’t factored into the characterization of any other comics.

anyway i was thinking about genderbent peter parker. early 616 peter parker has some anger issues that make the character an intriguing candidate for genderbending for me. out of nowhere it hit me that skip as a girl could be skipper, y’know like barbie’s little sister. so this became the angry lesbian teen processing lesbian csa story. as i outlined it i realized the character i really wanted penny to interact with wasn’t 616!mary jane watson, wasn’t gwen stacy, wasn’t harry osborn. it was michelle jones. so okay, fine, i guess this is mcu fic. and as i kept writing the idea that mj can understand what penny is going through keep poking through more and more. so yeah, a story about two weird girls who have points in common they didn’t think anyone else would ever understand

exorcist/evil dead/lolita and right hand !

🔥exorcist/evil dead/lolita - i really thought this would be a quick little thing. like i started it because i thought it would be a good idea to write something so i could edit my vampire fic with fresh eyes. it’s been months and i’m still here. i mean i did have to take a break for a while because of rl stuff, but still. it’s a bigger project than i imagined

what even is it? so i was looking through the list of what could have beens for st (of the “we planned x but when it came time we changed our minds and did y” variety) and found one i thought had a lot of creepy wiseone potential. like to the extent that i think in the timeline where they went through with this that Henry’s lore would’ve gone on to mirror this. i’m being vague about which what could have been in the interest of not spoiling the final scene of what’s shaping up to be like a 20k fic before it’s out, but I was like “oh I’ll just write a scene from an au where this did happen and henry is a megacreep about it!” but then while writing that scene some of the potential of the show’s references to the exorcist and the evil dead keep poking through and i realized i needed to hop back a little to really explore those things. so that’s how we got where we are now, knee deep in a possession as sexual violence narrative. trauma reenactment and projection and forcing cycles. the evil dead and the exorcist are evoked in show, while lolita kinda naturally wormed its way in as i wrote. it felt like a natural third point that horror reference triangle, especially since this fic plays a lot with distortion and perspective

🔥right hand- cleradin serial killer au! i like the idea of fantasy aus being mike wheeler’s emotionally hurtful friend fiction, but didn’t have a real plot to put that in until one day i was in the shower and “SIR GAWAIN AND THE GREEN KNIGHT” hit me. it won’t be a direct adaptation, it’s the interplay of the supernatural with games and honor. i mean there will be decapitation and an exchange of winnings but modified to suit my needs. mike the paladin encounters a lich and gets dragged into a game will the wise would be better equipped to understand. as i fleshed out Mike’s fantasy backstory (knight devoted to Jane who has been spiraling down since she was burned at the stake) I realized I’d accidentally created gilles de rais. a historical figure best described in the words of a museum website I stumbled across, “Heroic companion of Jean d’Arc as well as predatory murderer of boys!” Friend of a saint who did evil things. always fascinating to see how media about Joan of Arc deals with this. sometimes his crimes are ignored for a cleaner narrative, other times highlighted to create a foil. i’ve seen “he was good but then grief got him” floating around. I knew that if I paralleled Jane to Joan in a fic I would want to tie Gilles de Rais to someone. I always assumed Henry, but in this case mike fit directly into the part. which meant i had to add some boy murder to this fic. returning to the this is Mike’s emotionally hurtful friend fiction angle, in my head this is Mike grappling with the fact that putting Jane on a pedestal was deeply painful for her as well as an expression of internalized homophobia

old betsy/tabloid 👀🔥?

i’ve half jokingly half seriously considered that maybe vecna’s real agenda for the party in s4 was to get them arrested. so… fic where max dies and lucas, mike, and dustin are tried and convicted for their participation in the munson murders. it’s a tabloid sensation (and the Sinclairs have to navigate the role narrative will play in lucas’s survival). dustin is sent to juvie, mike and lucas are not. they depend on each other through this. this entanglement involves romantic feelings. a sense of melancholy where they both misjudge the other despite there being no one closer

working on this i learned that in era this is set, the indiana death penalty eligibility age was 10. this would end up being raised as the result of international public outcry after the 1986 sentencing of a 16 year old girl. i did not want to put lucas on death row partially because of the logistical difficulties it created but mostly because it doesn’t feel right to me to be like “au where that international outcry is about lucas sinclair instead of a real girl because my fanfic sentencing would be chronologically earlier” the tabloid narrative is there as a way to justify to myself why they aren’t on death row. publicity has a way of skewering court results

this is a fic that makes me glad series are a thing on ao3 because i’m not sure stuff like jason’s unhinged letters (side note: in terms of shipping where the villain is fixated on the hero, Jason/Lucas is underrated) or the Sinclair parents plus Max’s mom’s tv interview are actually within the scope of the little story i want to tell. if i have to cut those threads i can always make a part 2

🔥 eurydice- lumax are orpheus and eurydice. canon planted the seeds with the kate bush and death of it all, i just wish it could have been taken further. lucas decides to travel alone across dimensions to get max himself. he finds will who is vecna’s captive. as a gesture to convince will he’s reasonable/capable of kindness, vecna offers lucas an opportunity to find max and leave with her. it’s a trap. of course it’s a trap. very beach heavy work in my mind. the fic that made me realize lucas and max both have moms named susan

🔥 candy/needles- pre-s5, vickie is having uncanny visions, but hey, everyone’s a little stressed out these days. it’s fine. especially since she’s been talking to the kindly orderly at her hospital… who suggests robin is secretly a drug addict. so yeah, this is the vickie gets mildly vecna’d fic. love paired with ever increasing anxiety. the joys of dramatic irony. i find vickie more challenging to write than i expected, mostly because there’s so much freedom it almost loops around to being restrictive. like i can fill in whatever i want for her backstory, but the target i have to hit in order to make sure it really feels like her is much smaller
