E For Explosion - Sweetheart
| alt-rock/pop, shoegaze. garage pop, acoustic instruments, piano, stomping and clapping. <3
Bats For Lashes - Prescilla
| Continuation of digging through music library, huzzah! Bats For Lashes = Natasha Khan. Natasha = British singer/songwriter, plays many instruments etc. I have no idea how known/not known she is in America...??? She opened for Depeche Mode for a part of their most recent tour! Anyways, indie pop, dream pop, synthpop, avant-garde, indie electronic. On top of all the normal instruments you'd find in a band, she also plays things like a harmonium, an autoharp, and a vibraphone in her songs. Talented lady, I say
Rend Collective Experiment - Movements
| Rediscovering my music library. Always a good time :)
Johnnyswim - Home
| Folky blues pop idk! Imagine a really intense Civil Wars. The duo, Amanda and Abner, met once a upon a time, magically hit it off a few years later, decided to write music together, and eventually got married. TRUE STORY. The band is named after her goldfish, Johnny, who died when she was very young. However, Amanda believed that Johnny was still alive and yelled "Johnny, swim!" Thus, the memory of Johnny lives on. The band name really has nothing to do with their music, but I do like both the name and the music.
Zoe Yin - Midnight
| This is one talented lady! Check it out. I also really like the mixes that she has on her soundcloud. Looks like she might be a dj for the UT radio station? which is 91.7 FM btw
Wolf Gang - Suego Faults
| Wolf Gang: British Alt/Symphonic Rock band. The lead singer, Max McElligott, actually recorded the entire Suego Faults album. In other words, even all the instruments were played by him. Now, there's a whole band. They've toured with some pretty well known artists like Coldplay, The Killers, Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding, etc. Impressive, I say.!
Your Vegas - The Way the War Was Won
| Alliteration galore! at least in the title. Sometimes, I rediscover songs that I had discovered before. In this case, it's been almost two years since I added this song to my music library, but I don't even know it..? I don't even know how I do that. Hehehe
Kevin Devine - Another Bag of Bones
| I can't figure out why I like this song so much, because it's super repetitive. This sounds a lot like Modest Mouse? This sounds like a ton of artists mixed into one?? idk Kevin Devine, you're weird and intriguing at the same time.
You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart always will be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.
Miriam Adeney
Audrey Assad - Wherever You Go
| This song has been stuck in my head aaaaaaalll week. /mynotcoolstoryaboutaudrey
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:17-18
MoMA.
So I can embed instagram things now.. Hmm! I guess you have to actually click on my post to see it.
I should learn this
Kye Kye - Broke
| This band is amazing. I can't even. I am blown away when I read the lyrics to their songs. You can read them here if you are also interested. There's so much scripture in there. They are produced by the Future of Forestry guy, and their influences come from bands like Sigur Ros, Deathcab, Coldplay, M83. I can hear it all in there, yet they are still very different from those bands. and also much quieter sounding, kinda like My Epic or Young Oceans.
I'm going to post the lyrics here, because I think they're awesome. ALL their songs have this much Biblical influence in them.
Broke
I broke in the silence to repeat what I’ve done in the past won’t change me (Phil.3:3-11) I broke when you told me I could try all the time but my ways won’t change me (Eph.2:8-9)(Gal.3:1-3)(Ro.3:20-22) We tried this, but we failed we know this but we’re too blind to see (1Cor.2:14) (2Tim.3:7) that there is freedom within me (Col.1:27) (Ro.6:4) . your life brought light for all to see (Jon.12:46) (Mrk.4:11) When I was lost so I, so I thought that I was searching all alone like I was lost so I didn’t know (Gal.4:1) what I was keeping all along (Col.1:27) (Ro.8:11) I knew from the moment my mistakes all stood out your light’s my only safety (Ro.10:3-13) oh all the times that I didn’t look your way (Mat.13:22) look what I was missing lord you fill in every space that I replaced instead of you (Eze.36:26-27) Revived us, we will sing (Eph.2:4-6) restored us, you are the source to breath (Jon.4:14) ignite us to a need to bury everything I never want to be (Ro.8:13-14)
Words, Not Words
I wish I could use words to express things well, but I can't. I read so many blogs, and everybody seems to be able to write just fine. When I look at things I write, it's like reading a middle schooler's writing with more mature thoughts. Eck. On top of that, my brain doesn't seem to be fully capable of processing things using words more often than not. WORDS. >:( It's rather dumb, considering that we use language in our internal thoughts. I'm not sure where I'm going with this. Sometimes, I would like to be able to better express myself, even in my own head?? Fin.
The Autumn Film - Ships on the Ocean Floor
| I knew about Page CXVI for a few years now, but I didn't know that PAGE CXVI was developed in parallel to The Autumn Film by the same band members, for two different styles of music. Well, actually, they sound rather similar. Page CXVI is dedicated to making hymns accessible again. What I really enjoy about The Autumn Film is that while it is soft and soothing, there is still a fullness to the sound. I wish they were better known :<
