Phenology Wheel for local practice
So I feel like this would be something really cool for more witches to do and I feel kind of silly for not doing it before.
I've read a lot of really amazing posts from witches talking about creating their own localized special days based around their specific area and I feel like something like this could really help to understand patterns better.
Maybe this has been on my mind because we've only just had our first day under 70 here this fall (yeah it was 82 yesterday, which is about 15 degrees warmer than normal) but it feels even more important than ever to localize your craft. I've always felt kinda weird about "wheel of the year" stuff because it's just so different from what I've ever seen, but as global climate change progresses and makes those kinds of nature related markers even more different I really want to key in on what's going on around *me* and going on in *my* neck of the woods.
So if you're like me and you're trying to really localize your craft and now that it's the part of the year where less stuff is growing, something like a phenology wheel based on migrating animals, or the moon, or hours of sunlight or days of rain might be cool to celebrate too. Maybe the stars and when certain constellations rise or the brightness of certain planets.
tell me
Mustard-raspberry void, which sounds like a trendy coffee shop drink that's a little too expensive for how it tastes.
Me on my way to remind everyone when there's a Wheel of the Year Holiday approaching
Oh and if literal grass-touching IS viable, I also advocate for touching invasive grass. Many parks in the US have invasive plant removal volunteer work days. You get some air and some exercise and you can talk to other volunteers if you want or you can just march off into the trees on your own and start wreaking havoc with various hand tools. If you want to do something that is both useful AND destructive, I have found nothing better
funnily enough i did this for the first time today & yeah, i highly recommend, it rules hard
you just show up & they give you a bunch of pre-sharpened loppers & are like "here's what an invasive blackberry bush looks like, go kick its ass"
and then you just get to hack and maim and wreck for FREE for as many hours as you so desire??? good as HELL
Removal of invasive species is one of the best things you can do for the environment. The task can feel overwhelming, you impact may feel small. But each plant you remove stops thousands and thousands of additional invasive seeds from wreaking havoc on our native wildlife.
I do this regularly and can confirm its the best. Go be in nature, go godzilla on some honeysuckle and open up huge swathes of forest to native species that support failing bird and bug populations!
In case anyone is wondering....

EDIT: Mercury is stationed direct on Jan 1st, 2024. The source I used which stated it was in retrograde until the 18th had a typo.
EDIT: Fixed the zodiac signs for the full moons using a new source.
So in the latest "ban books!" controversy there's a picture book for pre-schoolers called "Grandad's Pride" the objection is that some of the illustrations of Pride involve men in leather
and I could go on and on about how yes that is in fact something you might see at Pride out in public so why would you not include it but.....
here's an unrelated image of popular children's cartoon character He-Man in a Harness (and fury underpants) if its only a problem when gay men do it, thats homophobia...
Also, that's what PRIDE looked like.
We gain nothing by trying to sanitize our own history for our oppressors comfort, especially when their comfort does includes our suicide rate.

Not everything the Christians do is stolen from some anonymous pagan culture. I'm sorry y'all but the Christians did actually come up with a bunch of shit on their own.
Like, if you're looking to criticize the Catholic Church, you really don't need to make up fake pagan traditions for them to steal Easter eggs from. You can bring up the genocides.
baneful asks for vile witches
Too much love and light on my dash. Let's do a new ask game.
Angry Dead :: Have you ever cast a hex or curse?
Bile :: What’s the worst thing you’ve done to someone with magic?
Blackthorn :: Do you own any special tools for baneful work?
Capsicum :: What’s your favorite ingredient for hexing or cursing?
Coffin :: What energies do you employ for baneful workings?
Fire Ants :: Do you contract with, or gain help from spirits to do malicious magic?
Iron Nails :: Share your favorite method of working ill against others
Needles :: Is there a type of baneful magic you would never employ?
Owl-Blasted :: Do you believe anyone has ever worked malefica against you?
Pins :: What’s your advice to witches who want to try out malefic magic?
Poppet :: Do you prefer to cast your malefica “hot” or “cold”?
Railroad Spike :: Do you believe working with baneful magic is more dangerous than other forms?
Rust :: How quick are you to employ baneful deeds?
Skull :: Have you ever hexed or cursed someone just because you could?
Spit :: What’s the most petty thing you’ve worked baneful magic for?
Sulfur :: Do you do anything special to “clean up” once you’ve worked malefica?
Vinegar :: Is there a moral code you follow before deciding to work ill against others?
Celestial Witch Aesthetic
I twist spider webs into thread and tie it into knots for more potent cord magic
“The spider spins it’s web of wight,
I do the same in dark of night.
House fly, house fly, buzzing by,
Stay for dinner, have some pie.
Sit with me, on a day so fair,
I have us here a plate to share.”
I have always been fond of spiders and how they weave web — and fate.
Sometimes being a witch means doing witchcraft everyday blatently. Making potions, building tools, calling spirits, casting spells, reading signs and hexing as needed.
Sometimes being a witch means doing witchcraft everyday quietly. Saying your morning prayer, cooking dinner with well chosen herbs, appreciating spirits, reading lore, enjoying the fruits of your spells and blessing as needed.
Idk man, I’d use blue cheese for like... growth. Because blue cheese doesn’t have the mold added or “injected” in like people think (you can see little spiky holes/lines where they’ve stabbed a wheel of blue cheese, and that’s where the molds grow), wheels already have the cultures mixed inside the milk, and when the wheel is exposed to oxygen, the cultures grow mold spores. So like... speaking witchily (that’s totally a word), anything you want to grow exponentially would benefit from witching with blue cheese.
I have DEFINITELY used it to great effect in a curse to simultaneously rot a managers influence and also grow her troubles.
