BIOGRAPHY:
[TW: Blood]
25 years ago the middle child was born into the Greengrass family and named Ophelia. No one knew at the time that this little girl wasn’t really that, and would one day go by the name Ozwald. Truth be told he didn’t know for a long while either.
Ozwald was raised as a proper pureblood woman. Everything from how to be the perfect pureblood wife one day, to how to be a socialite. He never felt like he fit that mold that was made for him. It especially didn’t fit when his father had friends over one evening. It was a typical pureblood get together but as it was the man had something to show everyone. He had come into the possession of a cursed object and since Mr. Greengrass had a particular interest in such things he wanted to show him. Four year old Ozwald was a curious little thing and was very close to his father. He snuck in not knowing what was bound to happen. The music box once opened let out a shrill scream, and while the men in the room had protection Ozwald didn’t. Ozwald screamed in agony as his ears started to bleed and it would later be deemed that the dark magic damaged his ears beyond repair. He can only hear with the aid of hearing aids. Growing up deaf wasn’t easy when no one seemed to care that he couldn’t hear that well. It was just like that for a while. It helped during the time his younger sister was born, as he never was bothered by her crying. A healer was the one who came up with the spell that acted like muggle hearing aids. It was a charm that stayed in a pair of earrings. As long as Ozwald had them in, he could hear at least something. It wasn’t perfect but it allowed him to hear the world a little better than before. Without the charm he couldn’t hear most things. That was around six years old.
It was made very clear to Ozwald that the earrings were to be worn at all times, and to not say what they were really for. Once he turned 11 it was time for Hogwarts. Now, the best case scenario was that he would be sorted into Slytherin. He wasn’t, he was sorted into Hufflepuff much to his father’s disappointment. For a long while he hated his house, but it became home. He met people who learned how to talk to him with BSL.
School was a place for him to learn who he was. It was during that time he learned that he felt different about himself, but not enough to question it. His father would have killed him otherwise. He did learn that the boys uniform was far more comfortable than the girls during the winter months and preferred it.
While his father disapproved of the house, Ozwald excelled at schooling. He received both O’s and E’s on his O.W.L.S followed by the same scores on the N.E.W.T for a healer job. Schooling was easy, he loved it. He did earn an O in herbology and always spent extra time in the greenhouse helping out. School ended though and it was expected that he find a husband. Still being seen as woman his father set him up with the only son of the Wilkes family, Edmond.
They were married rather quickly and it was very clear that Edmond saw him as weaker and useless because of his hearing issue. Edmond was a death eater, and swore that his wife wouldn’t make a good one because of the hearing issue. He refused to learn BSL as well. They were married for six months before Ozwald caught him with his mistress. For a long while he ignored it. Pretended not to notice when Edmond came home smelling like her or when he didn’t come home at all. The war raged on and Edmond followed Voldemort like a lost puppy. Ozwald was left to himself, learning more and more that he felt like a man. It was during a day out with his friends that he admitted it and they supported him. For the most part, Ozwald stayed out of the war, mostly due to Edmond keeping him away from it. He was to tend to the garden and be the perfect wife despite the fact that Edmond didn’t touch him ever.
Edmond tried to escape imprisonment by running and was killed during it, a year before the war ended. Ozwald was free from him finally. That was the day he spoke to the mistress for the first and last time. He took the money and opened a flower shop shortly after his husband’s death. He figured out who he was during that time too, changing his name and life. His father hasn’t spoken to him since but his siblings have.
Since the war has ended he’s come into his own, and does what he can to support those who were hurt by the war. He never agreed with the death eaters, and was thankful he never really had to play that part. Sure he was known in the group but he was never one other than the hostess to meetings when Edmond was involved.
