“When did we all stop believing in magic?”
You know there’s nothing I love more than a bright eyed newcomer trying to make it on the Upper East Side. So often they fail, crash and burn, go speeding back to whatever little no name town they came from. Not you though, Phoebe. Oh no, you’ve managed to keep up with the best of us so far. Being the right hand of thee Eleanor Waldorf has given you access most could only dream of. I wouldn’t mind picking your brain for all the scandalous secrets the Queen Mother herself has been keeping. Call me any time for a catch up. I’ve seen the way you move around different social circles, easily fitting in and charming whoever needs charmed. You’re ambitious and not afraid to break a nail. Your past is something of a mystery even to me but I suppose here is the place everyone goes to be reborn, right? I have a feeling that anyone who decides to underestimate you will quickly end up burned. You can believe in dreaming big, in magic and wonder while still tripping the competition up in your Jimmy Choos. Can’t wait to see you again.
Phoebe Walker always knew that she was destined for greatness. Some things you just can’t fight and honey? Destiny is one of them. Growing up she consumed every issue of Vogue, every biopic of the hottest designers and spent every last dollar she had on fabrics, glitter glue and thread. The next name to storm the fashion scene will be hers. All that mattered to her was getting on that plane to New York City and letting her real life finally begin. Friends are cool and all but fashion is forever. Phoebe has always been a little fickle in her relationships and while she’s always been very popular, she will backstab when necessary. No one is going to get ahead of her even if she does have to fight a little dirty. When the time came to pack up and move to New York, there wasn’t much a plan in place. Luckily for Phoebe, she found Emmeline Fairchild’s ad for a ‘roommate wanted’ before almost anyone else. She even told the other person who came to the interview the spot was taken (oospie).
Emmeline loved her spirit. The two became fast friends and agreed to have each other’s back in the apartment. If a one night stand wanted to stay for breakfast? They’d get kindly kicked out by whoever was up first. Too tired to cook? There’s always communal leftovers in the fridge. Phoebe might not understand why Emmeline walked out on her super rich family to ‘make it on her own (kinda)’ but each to their own. With a roof over her head and some of Em’s besties in her phone, Phoebe started showing up to the hottest parties and shaking the most important hands. She had a number of odd jobs while working on her own designs. One that gifted her a lot of gossip was ‘personal shopper’. Phoebe would listen in all day while she helped whichever fashionably lost Upper East Sider and make mental notes. It was a crash course on the ‘who’s who’ and ‘where’s where’. Next she landed the gig of a lifetime: personal assistant to Eleanor Waldorf herself. Now Phoebe is a breath away from her ultimate dream and nothing is going to get in her way. It’s destiny.
What Does Gossip Girl Have On Them?
It’s not known in NYC (yet), but Phoebe left her hometown for a LOT MORE than her aspiring career. After college, her high school boyfriend got into drug dealing and Phoebe was also part of the scheme. It was hard to keep away from everything when he kept showering her with whatever she could dream of: luxury cars, luxury bags, luxury shoes, luxury lingerie.
When the FBI got into town and started asking questions, it wasn’t difficult for Phoebe to trade her freedom for his. She was a snitch. And even though she wasn’t particular proud of that decision, she knew it was for the best; at least her best. The ex-boyfriend is currently in jail, and even though he knows what Phoebe did, he understands that move. In some way he always knew that what matters more to Phoebe Walker IS Phoebe Walker.
Emmeline Fairchild - the roommate and first real friend in NYC!
Blair Waldorf - Eleanor’s daughter is a number, an email, an appointment that Phoebe has had to scheduled and reschedule. She feels for Blair even if she can’t say anything about it.
Felicity Sanderson and Julian Donovan - Emmeline’s two BFFs. One very, very fun and one cute but boring.
Peter Vanderbilt - Phoebe wouldn’t mind being given a private tour of his gallery, if you know what I mean.
William Huntzberger - one name that came up constantly when she was a personal shopper. From what Phoebe’s heard, she’s sure he’s pretty shady but what was that about curious cats, again?
