Near the end I have changed the hair style for Bing Bing, because historically when a woman is married she wear her hair up, so near the end I drew her hair with her hair up to indicate that she is married.

This is part of the scene from my storyboard/animatic, and this piece of drawing is my fav out of the ones from my storyboard, because I like the body proportion and I like how he looks at her.

These are my character design for my characters, I feel that I should add some colours to them, so it will make it more clear on how they look and what colour clothes and accessories they wear. 

Above the design of Manchu had long hair, mainly because long time a go Chinese men do not cut their hair and none will shave their hair bold as this was said to be disrespectful to their mother, therefore my design for my male characters had long hair.

These are some of my environment design, I designed and drew the mountain to give a visual looking of the mountain that Manchu visited when he was a teen. I think I should have drew more other environments such as the house he lives after he married to give an image of what kind of environment he lives in.

How I pick a name for my character

For my characters I pick their Chinese name specifically, 

Bing Bing; is the name for my female character: the ice lade, the woman who froze the old man to death. The reason why I call her “Bing Bing” is because Bing means or sounds equivalent to the Chinese word “冰” which mean’s ice in Chinese. So Bing Bing means Ice Ice which I find suitable for her. 

Manchu; means Pure, I chose this name for him because in the story Bing Bing did not kill him because she find him young and beautiful which means he is, so it means that this guy is pure and beautiful just like his name. 

Huang Fu; means Rich Future, I chose this name for him to show that this man is greedy for fortunes which is why Bing Bing did not like him thus killing him.

Meanings Of ‘White’

When I was thinking about the story I want to come up with, I was looking at different kind of short stories and tried to read other things to look for inspiration, and then I came upon a site that list out the meaning of colours, and the colour that draws me in the most is white. 

According to the site, it says “White is the colour of perfection. The colour meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion.” 

White is the colour of new beginnings, and interestingly, White contains both the positive and negative aspects of all colours.  

Positively white is a colour of protection and encouragement a colour that offers a sense of peace and calm, comfort and hope. However there are also a few negative meanings to white, for example in western culture, too much white can be cold, isolating and empty. It implies a feeling of detachments and disinterest. And in other cultures white is related to death, because death usually means the end of one life and the beginning of another, moving forward to a new life, so the colour has the meaning of new beginnings. 

For some reason, this give me an inspiration to write my story. For my story I came up with things related to the meaning of white such as, protection, hope, cold, empty, death and hope. And by this I wrote a story about a snow/ice woman, I particular want her to be an ice spirit mainly because white has the meaning of “cold” and cold makes me think of winter, snow and ice, and this is how I came up with the ice woman. In the story I wrote about the Ice lady deciding not to kill the younger boy because many people use white as a recall of their youth and innocence, and her not killing him can mean and indicate that he is innocent.

I want my character design to have a traditional style such as the drawing style or the type of cloths my character wears, because my story feels like old folk story tale and I think a traditional style will work well with my story. 

My characters for my story goes by a Chinese/East Asian name so I particularity research on art work of characters wearing traditional Chinese or Japanese style clothing, such as Kimino.

I have taken these photos of snow view at the lake district and I use this as part of my research and reference for my backgrounds and sceneries, and to help me develop my film writing, it also helps me developing or creating a scenery/view for my story.

Story Idea 2: The Ice Woman

Once upon a time, there are two man called Manchu and Huang Fu. Manchu is a young boy in his teen, whereas Huang Fu is a really old man in his 70s. One day they both went up to the mountain to chop some wood/tree, but they were stuck at a mountain and they couldn't go home because of a snowstorm. They walked around to see if there are any caves or houses they can stay over night, they eventually found a hut at the mountain so they decided to sleep there and wait until the snowstorm died down. On the next morning, Manchu woke up and he saw a beautiful lady with white clothes and he saw her breathed on to Huang Fu and he was frozen to death. Manchu was really frighten to see such incident, he was struggling, and panicking but he tried to escape from the ice lady. 

Manchu ran out of the hut, but the ice lady caught up to him very quickly, and she grabbed on to his wrist to stop him from running away. Manchu was terrified and he keep panicking and scared. The ice lady then approached to Manchu, she was planning to kill him, but she stopped and stared at him for a while, and said, "I thought I was going to kill you, the same way as that old man, but I will not, because you are young and beautiful. You must not tell anyone about this incident. If you tell anyone about me, I will kill you."

Several years later, he met a beautiful young lady called Bing Bing and they got married, they had several children, and they lived together happily for many years. But strangle, she did not age. One night, after their children were asleep, Manchu said to his wife "Whenever I see you, I am reminded of a incident that happened to me when I was young." Manchu continued his story about the incident that happened to him several years ago. 

After he finished his story, his wife stood up, and said "That woman you met was me, and I told you that I would kill you if you ever told anyone about that incident. However, I can't kill you because of our children. Please take good care of our children" and then she frozen herself and melted away and disappeared and nobody have ever seen her again.

Story Idea 1

Erwin is a young man who always wanted to become immortal, because he has never experience anything good in life, but he felt that if he lived long good thing may happen in his life and will become better if he wait long. One day he decided to climbed up all up to a tall tree to get to the Fairy’s kingdom, seeking for the youth water. The youth water can give a human immortality if the person drinks it which is located at the Fairy Kingdom, but the youth water is protected by fairies, their job is to keep human away and to protect the youth water from stolen. One day Erwin climbed all the way up to the fairy kingdom, when he arrived, nobody was there, so he thought he’ll try to go and find the take the youth water, but he was immediately stopped by a female fairy and was told to leave. Erwin insist that he won’t leave until he get to drink the youth water, but the fairy cast a spell and transported him away, but he keep coming back each time he was sent away. He tried many attempts sneaking in, trying to steal etc, but nothing works. The fairy keep seeing him coming all the time, so one time she ask him “why do you want to be immortal? why do you want to have a long life so badly?” Erwin then told her his reason then he asked “why are you alone? where are the other fairies? aren’t they suppose to guard the youth water with you?”. The fairy informed him that they all left and never came back, she said she don’t know where they gone and why they gone, but she was left here by herself for 500 years and she couldn’t leave the place because she has the duty to guard the youth water. Erwin then climbed back down without saying anything, the fairy thought he gave up and have left, but much to her surprised, Erwin came back 2 days later with a few items in his hand such as picture book, firework, wine etc.. He said to the fairy “It must be boring being here doing the same thing everyday for 500 years, so I went to the human world and brought you something interesting to see”, the fairy was surprised that he went all the way down just to bring her things to see and try to keep her company. Days after days they become friends. Within those week with Erwin all her sadness and loneliness was healed by Erwin, and unexpectedly Erwin have forgotten about the youth water and have not mentioned about it since instead he keeps coming back to the fairy kingdom almost every 2 or 3 days after, and every time he will bring her different things, they began to have feelings for each other, within those time they talk a lot, and they each showed each other things that either of them haven’t seen. One day the fairy god mother came back to the fairy kingdom, and found Erwin at the kingdom, she then went to the fairy and questioned her why she let a human at the kingdom, the fairy couldn’t answer. The fairy god mother then sent Erwin away, and told him to never come back if he do he will be punished. Weeks later Erwin sneaked into the fairy kingdom to see the fairy, and he told her to leave the place with him, and said that he will show her many fun and interesting things. The fairy insisted at first but she decided to sneak out of the kingdom with him, but unfortunately they were caught for sneaking out, the fairy god mother sent Erwin to the Fairy jail, and the fairy was taken away and she was locked up in a room. The fairy was sad and cried everyday, months later the fairy god mother came to her and ask why she want to leave so bad? The fairy said “for 500 years I have always been by myself guarding the youth water, I was really lonely, I was really sad but all that sadness and loneliness was all healed within a week by Erwin. Erwin told me that he will show me around the world, and I really want to go and explore the world with him, I want to be with him”. Fairy god mother was touched by her word and decided to grant her wish under one condition, that she must become human, and she could not return to the fairy kingdom ever again. The fairy agreed to the condition and Erwin was freed from jail. Both other them left the fairy kingdom and lived happily every after.

Writing Story Practice 

One day, a hungry cat was strolling around looking for something to eat. Nothing can be eaten, as he keeps walking he stumbled across a grape and a candy. The cat’s belly keeps growling as he looking at both the grape and the sweet, he was thinking which to eat first. As he plan to eat the grape first the grape is really scared to be eaten and trying to beg the cat not to eat him and trying to persuade the cat to eat the candy and not him. The cat looked at the candy and thought “Then I’ll eat the candy first”. Right when the cat was about to pick the candy up the candy keep trying to persuade the cat to eat the grape and not her. Both candy and grape are trying to persuade the cat to eat the other, the hungry cat got really confused as well as paranoid so he ate both the grape and the candy.
