Country Roads and Puffy Clouds
It was a very nice sunny day and we were exploring some new areas (new to us at least).

Green!!
Had to google what these are called, it was on the tip of my tongue but just wasn't coming! Acorns. The phone app says acorns from an oak tree. Thank goodness for modern tech :)
I don't quite remember where I took them, some park :)

Local Wildlife
Playing around with video again, after years of mucking around with iMovie on the iPad I discovered that the Mac version has maybe a few more features? 😊 I’m slower since I’m unfamiliar with both the program and Mac OS, but I managed.
A short video of wildlife we spotted on our recent walk in Delta. The birds were nice, but the best was the unexpected sighting of the marmots! Up to now we’d only seen them up the mountains. They are adorable!

Clouds!!
I liked the clouds that day. Turned it to black and white to add to the drama :)

Classic Reflections and Symmetry
Have to replenish my ready to post photos, but had this classic lake one ready to go for now :)
A pretty autumn day at Burnaby Regional Park with the puffy, white clouds reflected in the lake.

Red Circles at Night
Public art always lends itself to some cool photography, this is Spring by Alan Chung Hung, installed in 1981. I took this one on my walk downtown checking out the Christmas lights last December. I think the shadows at night add an interesting element.

Pink & Blue
Fluffy pink petals against a blue sky.
Had a few breaks in the rain and managed a few snapshots of the cherry blossoms. For now, just with my phone, will see if I manage to take out the "big" camera for some shots before they finish :)
PS now that I have a side blog I need to pay more attention to where I post! :)

Black and White Reflections
I liked the curves of the building and columns as well as the reflections in the windows. Taken at Science World (the big ball).

Shadow Play
I just liked the effects of the crisscrossed shadows from the gate at night :)

Caribbean Postcard
A bit of a throw back Thursday, haven't done one in a while.
An update on my scanning project, last summer I realized that prints are hard enough (haven't scanned in a while), but I wasn't ever going to get to the slides. Got a note that the guy doing scans at a downtown photography store was retiring so I took that as my inspiration to do something about it. Grabbed as many slides as I could fit in my backpack and dropped them off. Didn't get all of them, but...at least some memories are back :)
This should be January of 2000, we'd gone down to Santo Domingo for New Year's.
I did some light Photoshop on the picture, below is the unedited shot. Maybe it's the scan or my exposure was way off, quite light/overexposed. Also a bit of tilting on that horizon! :) It's probably Fuji or Kodak film.

Best Cat!
Our neighbour has started asking us to cat sit every so often, I now have a steady source for cat pictures!!! :) Loaner cats are the best cats.
She is such a friendly kitty.

And Now for Something Completely Different
Last summer we did something completely different, large format photography!
I discovered that a photo store downtown offered large format photography workshops, so we decided to try it. We each got to shoot two frames, one urban and one portrait. We had to load our film blindly in the special film loading bag (not easy at all!) and try to focus (also not easy, image is upside down).
Really cool experience, it doesn't convince me to go back to film, but I'd never tried the large format cameras before, so happy to get the chance.

Colour Blocks
They painted the walls at the skytrain station in cool, bright colours. Was rushing to catch the bus, but tried taking a quick shot anyway!
It's still part of the "station", so, even if it isn't a picture of the platform, I'm going to count it towards my unofficial skytrain photo project :) This is Joyce Station.
