At first, Sirius was rather cautious. After all, a war had started, and you could never really tell friend from foe these days. However, something about the boy made Sirius want to trust him, so, loosely shrugging, he accepted the hand extended towards him, shaking it. "I'm Sirius, Sirius Black." He said, his eyes gleaming proudly. He didn't, however, mention the fact that James was the name of his best friend as well. After all, it was a popular name in the English speaking world.

Truthfully, Sirius didn't know who Newt was, nor had he ever heard of him. But it seemed like the boy in front of him was serious, so he just shrugged, before deciding to give it a shot. How else to find out if his wand was still fully functional, right? After a moment of fishing through his pockets to locate it, he pulled it out, and aimed it at a fallen leaf on the pathway, uttering the words "Wingardium Leviosa!" Truthfully, it wasn't the most impressive of spells, but it wasn't always about showing off.

James honestly had no idea what was going on, but he at least had Teddy with him, so he was trying to just roll with it. He figured getting used to his surroundings was probably a good first step but had hardly made it out of the building before he watched a semi-familiar looking black dog turn into an even more familiar looking face - albeit, one he’d only ever seen in pictures. Which surely had to be a coincidence, right? His brow raised when the other spotted him and tried to pass everything off like he hadn’t just turned from a dog into a person. “That’s the best cover you can come up with?” he asked curiously. “Muggles may be a bit oblivious, but they’re not that thick,” he pointed out. 

Sirius raised his brow, clearly taken aback by the response he had received. Did... did he seriously just hear the other utter the word "muggle"? Truly a strange place, was it not? "You would be surprised just how thick muggles can be when attempting to justify something strange happening right in front of them." He said flippantly, shrugging his shoulders. "What does confuse me is, why am I meeting so many of my own kind here, out of all places. Did no one tell me the Quidditch world cup has been moved to America this year?"

Transformation wasn’t unheard of to Mercury. It was extremely rare and not something he’d personally experienced, but it wasn’t that surprising. He’d almost felt bad for the dog when he’d seen it wandering around believing it to be a stray. That sliver of humanity quickly died when he watched them shift into a human. Still leaning on the wall, his brows raised in mild surprise before the other spoke and got a chuckle out of him. “You should have seen it. The dog, it just disappeared. Riiight about where you’re standing. Actually, now that I think about it, I don’t remember seeing you there. Weird, right?”

Some muggles just couldn't be fooled, could they? The person in front of him stared at Sirius in disbelief, almost making the usually witty and outspoken wizard feel like he'd been cornered. He blinked his wide eyes, struggling to come up with a smart response. "I. I was here all the time. Came out. Right at that corner. Yeah, that's right." Sirius mused, nodding his head as if to convince the other to believe him.

Sirius wasn't sure about the kind of reaction he would expect from the person that spotted him. Perhaps fear or confusion, maybe screaming, but not.... not this. Not an adult man, staring at him with an all-knowing smirk that made the young English wizard uncomfortable and intimidated in all the ways. "I...I don't know what you're talking about, sir." The teenager spoke, blinking his eyes in confusion. "The animal, it...it just. It ran away. That way. I saw it." He nodded confidently, hand slowly moving down to the pocket of his pants where Sirius kept his wand.

It was convenient, because in a city of this size, stray animals weren't uncommon, it was an easy way to remain inconspicuous. "Well, I still have my wand with me, so there's that. " Sirius said, hand instinctively sliding into the pocket of his pants, as if to check if it was still in place. "Do you...do you know if this happened to anyone else? Remus, James, Peter?" The young Brit spoke wishfully, hoping to see his best friends again.

Sirius stared at the person in front of him, his eyes only widening further when the Brit heard her speak, and instant relief immediately rushed over him - thankfully, she hadn't saw the process of transformation. "I...I'm not sure. Big city. Lots of stray dogs wandering around, huh? You can never be too sure." He spoke, voice nervous and slightly shaky.

She didn’t breathe. For a split second, Hermione could swear their gazes met and held for a second.  But this- this was - unfathomable.  Her eyesight was clearly wrong.  Her heart pounded heavily in her chest.  Remembering to finally breathe. Only her thoughts shot away from how-it-was-impossible issues into the deeper, more darker thoughts that lead to the past.  Pushing good memories of Sirius flooded her senses from when she first met him, to when she spent an entire summer in the House of Black with the Weasleys cleaning out the place making it headquarters for the Order of the Phionex.  Everything inside Hermione told her that shaggy dog was no ordinary dog. 

From the familiarness coloring of the shaggy fur, the color of the eyes.  She was more than certain.  `Maybe he didn’t see me?` She thought to herself clearly hopeful.  In the last five minutes, she’d been dodging crowds of muggles trying to catch up, but only fall behind until the last minute. Only… to gaze at an unfamiliar face.  Her chest was shattering painfully as she didn’t even care he was caught red handed.  Or the thought of this was Sirius at a younger age since his mother completely destroyed every image of him when she was at the Black Manor so long ago.

“No,” Hermione said, her own voice a little more than a painful whisper.  She could feel the heat start to surface around her eyes, holding back her tears.  A painful look crossed her face.  She was so certain, so hopeful it was him. Looking away needing something else to look at.  Hands shaking out of control.  Her throat throbbing as she sounding distant and broken down “…sorry.  I thought you were someone else.”

Sirius eyed the girl in front of him cautiously, wondering whether the (supposedly) muggle had caught him in the midst of transformation, and surely was having a lot of questions right now. However, the reaction on her face was.... strange. It was almost as if she was tearing up, which was an understandable reaction to the unknown, but it also made Sirius tense up. Stealth was never an ability he could pride himself to, regretfully. The long-haired wizard was unsure of how to react, struggling to find the right thing to say as to not freak her out any further. "L-look, whatever you saw, I can explain." He spoke, grey eyes widening as he took a tentative step backwards. It wasn't too late to break off into a sprint and get away, now was it? "Just....just don't cry, okay? I.. I didn't mean to scare you or.."

Surely, it had been a strange experience, suddenly waking up in a place across the ocean, and even weirder that it was the muggle side of the society. And while teleporting didn't seem to take him back home, Sirius liked to think he was adapting very well, and transformed into Padfoot, he had managed to explore a fair bit of this Seattle unnoticed. No one would suspect a big, shaggy dog of being out of place, right? After a day of exploring alleyways and sidewalks, Sirius returned to where his apartment was and, hoping to remain unnoticed, transformed back into his human form.....only to notice afterwards that a pair on eyes had been on him the whole time. "Whoa, where did that huge dog go?" He exclaimed, atrying to remain inconspicuous to the passerby.
