Take off...
When I read the brief for the āFlights of Fancyā⦠the first image that came into my head was making paper planes in school, with bits of paper torn out of my school book. It was always lined paper, and more times than none, there would be a message that I or a friend had wrote in hope that the plane would make its way across the room to its correct destination.
However 90% of the time it would end up on some other kidās desk. Yet that added to the amusement.
Anyway, when everyone was talking about what designs they wanted to do and throwing planes around the room. All I could think about was those times in class, passing messages through these little flying plane-letters. Then I remembered a little Disney animation Iād saw a while back. āPapermanā. I enjoy Disney, always have, probably always will. I just like how simple the animation is in story terms, but how much of an impact it can have on a person. Thereās no dialogue. Just music and the pictures.
Anyway, I like how the plane that is the āmainā plane has a red lipstick stain. I like that it stands out in this little black and white animation. Itās this that made me think of what Iād like my plane to look likeā¦.
More next time!
