Our challenge was to create a new to world, accessible, mass-market beauty brand that breaks established category codes

we have created a bespoke skincare brand that helps you to create individual products so each item is tailored to benefit and enhance your skin.
Our target audience are people who care about their health and beauty, around 20+ who are just starting to have disposable income. Not only for women but for men also.
Jade
Mine is an online based brand, a place you can customise your own skin-care products. To determine which oils are most beneficial to you we have set up the series of questions that analyse your skin type. We then suggest the oil needed for your skin which can be used in a variety of products, here we will explain the benefits this oil-based product will have for you and your skin. From here the customisation element is to choose what fragrance they want. In analysis of this customers can review their purchases within a community-based forum.

The brand is offering five different products which our body scrubs, body washes, moisturiser, soaps and cleansers. Each product comes in a transparent packaged format so the product can be seen, which helps enhance the user experience.
To add to the personalisation of our products there will be a simple branded label where a personalised sticker is then added, this sticker will list their unique ingredients and their name to make it more special. This will help minimise printing costs.

Our products will be sent out in a cardboard tube format this will work as the diameter each product will be the same, which enables them to be stacked. Thus allowing us to save on use of materials, benefiting the environment. The label will be similar to the products with the sticker having their address on.

These are the slides from our final critique for this brief. They show our brand guidelines, colours and fonts, as well as our current website and packaging style. the feedback we got, was to develop the type hierarchy on the labels, rethink the colours and change the font. They liked the idea and thought it was a good concept.
we wanted our brand the be bold and stay away from the dull natural tones but still be gender neutral. these are some of the colours we came up with that didn’t scream male or female.
We had to change the name of our brand again as was very similar to an existing beauty brand called ‘Frank’. as we were now focussing on skin we went with the name ‘bare-faced’ as it implied keep skin natural and beautiful.

This article from Elle is a perfect example of the rise in popularity for avocado based beauty products. Over the past few years coconut based products have consumed the beauty industry, from teeth whitening to hair masks. but now is the time for avocado.
We have been looking into essential oils and natural oil based products. We wanted something that was rich in oil and full of health benefits. Avocado was an obvious choice.
We were experimenting with typefaces for our brand of avocado oil based products.
