There's real joy in this genre-defying performance by the English singer-songwriter, who performs material from her first album in six years.

I am a Photographer-Filmmaker who happens to work and live in Nigeria. I am what you call an independent filmmaker and I like to think the film that interest me are arty and creative films, then again filmmaking is an art form as such you need creativity to make the magic happen. Sometimes you don't even know what you are creating but you do nonetheless, and the world loves it and accepts it as a work of art. I have never seen "Living in bondage" but I hear it was the outing of Nollywood. Nollywood has since created millions of jobs and revenue for Nigerians home and away and all this is also borne from the freedom of creativity. Hubert Ogunde, Ade Love, and Baba Sala, all had their creative input into the world of filmmaking in Nigeria, also from freedom of their creativity. The modern day filmmakers who can be referred to as New Nigeria Cinema or Independent Filmmakers are probably some of the most creative filmmakers today not just in Nigeria but world wide. They have made films like "Gbomo Gbomo Express", Fifty, October 1, Phone Swap, to name a few. I actually saw fifty on Netflixs while I was away and that made me proud. Financing is difficult for any filmmaker around the world and more so more in Nigeria, we have to go to great lengths to get funding for films. Sometimes you are lucky some grant you can access comes along and a few can access it to make a film (Project Nollywood which was fair and transparent), I will guess some people were not happy and that is generally acceptable but nonetheless again some filmmakers got a chance to be creative. People outside the industry are the biggest financiers of the film industry and not filmmakers. I heard about "MOPICON" for the first time a couple of weeks ago, this is a body that want to regulate the film industry........ My first question was are there not regulators already in the country? Answer was there were, but someone in support of "MOPICON" said the are not doing their jobs properly. Next question was why not make sure they do their jobs properly instead of reinventing the wheel, well that question could not be answered. My next question was what exactly and who exactly is "MOPICON" and who will make up the monitoring board and what exactly are they going to be monitoring? I was told that they will get industry practitioners (I can guarantee not leading filmmakers) to determine how we should be creative. The whole concept not only defeats the purpose of creativity but kills it totally. I know in Nigeria the general rule is "ME MYSELF AND I" but what I do not understand is why a few people who want to share the generosity of a Governor or Company towards the industry practitioners feel they should make rules to guide everyone else on how to practice their trade or who can be creative and practice that trade. What I consider creative will be different to the next filmmaker and that is the reason why it is creative. "MOPICON" will make it difficult for certain people to fund films because if they are not registered with them and they might go to jail for wanting to create Jobs and invest in a film. The whole concept is so ludicrous that they want the backing of the Minister of information (Not even arts and culture) to inaugurate a committee tomorrow (obviously looking for government money) to put "MOPICON" in place and eventually pass it as a bill and enact it into law. My Honourable Minister for information, I know you might not be a creative but at least get information from the rest of the world this kind of body will be the first of it's kind and it will become the death of the industry. Please stop and say "NO TO MOPICON" Nigeria is changing no more living off the sweat of others and destroying an industry that has the potential to be so great. #NOTOMOPICON #CREATIVES #NOLLYWOOD #NEWNIGERIACINEMA #ARTSANDCULTURE #FILMMAKERS
