So come celebrate with my crew BANTU and I alongside our special guests Urban-Highlife singer ADEKUNLE GOLD, Dancehall artist CYNTHIA MORGAN, Soul singer/songwriter TOMI THOMAS and OBADIKAH BRASS BAND. See you all on Fri.17th March at Freedom Park
Interrupt This Program goes to Lagos, Africa's largest city, and one charged with a simmering new artistic energy amid terrorism, violent patriarchy and injustice.
Honored to be featured in this documentary on how artists in Lagos are provoking debate and reclaiming their space. .
We finally made it back home to Lagos from what must have been my longest road trip to date. 5000KM of magic, frustration and lots of re-education. The Segou Festival by the banks of the river Niger was amazing beyond words. The love from the audience and our fellow musicians from across the continent was humbling. Someone asked me why we would go through all this stress for a festival in some remote place. Its simple we were determined to show solidarity to our fellow brothers and sisters in Mali who have been battling with Islamist insurgency for years. This festival was important to help heal wounds and build bridges. Thank you to the people of Segou for inviting us. And a big shout out to our Agbero International chairman Jahman Anikulapo for hooking us up.
Life Between Borders: Black Migrants in Mexico
“With Trump’s rise to power, thousands of Haitians seeking entry to the US are now left stranded at the northern Mexico border. But Black migration is not new to Mexico, as people from the African Diaspora have lived here for centuries. In this short documentary, we meet Haitians stuck at the border as well as Africans in Mexico City to explore Black migration and identity in Mexico.” via Vimeo link

“One thing I would love to replicate here in Lagos are the public beaches. It is a crime that we do not have good beaches and promenades in this city. We are a coastal city and yet, we still can’t access our beaches because they are either completely dirty, unsafe or they’ve been privatised and fenced with security guards patrolling them”
Afropolitan Vibes on Friday is going to be lit!

Part.1 of my CNN interview
German President Joachim Gauck and his partner Daniela Schadt paid an offcial visit to Freedom Park Lagos. It was an honour to meet and chat with him about Afropolitan Vibes and the former colonial prison which has been our home for close to 3years. Putting up a monthly event like Afropolitan Vibes has its bitter sweat challenges but nothing beats seeing a vision manifest and grow.
The Afro-Folk vocal legend BLACKMAN AKEEB KAREEM is coming to Afropolitan Vibes and you sure don’t want to miss his performance for anything in the world. Its one of his first major musical outings in Nigeria in over 30 years!
He will be joined by Naija Ninja SOUND SULTAN, Yoruba-Reggae singer ORANMIYAN, Canadian-Nigerian singer-songwriter FALANA & The 13 piece BANTU collective
