When you were ten fissures appeared on your toes, beneath them was not blood, but fire. You were young, you didn’t know what it meant but since then you’ve been on the run. As you grew older you learned that these fissures, were the mark of a Calamity Vessel, specifically the War Calamity Vessel. The fissures have steadily crept up your legs as you’ve grown older, moving only a few inches each year. You know that when they reach your head the prophecy will be fulfilled. What exactly does that prophecy entail? You don’t know, all you know is that if the fissures reach your head, it’s all over.
After a few chance encounters the fissures begin moving an inch a day. How will you deal with your impending death? Will you fight it and look to break this curse? Or will you give in and doom the world?
The choice is yours and yours alone.
Ashley (Gender Selectable)
Your best friend from childhood. They haven’t seen you in fifteen years but they still care about you like you never left. A merchant by trade they can still hold their own if the need arises. They still wear the bracelet you made for them, toting it as their good luck charm. They worry about you, but sometimes you feel their worry is coming from something deeper than a love between friends.
Tomson (She/Her)
A knight from the small Kingdom of Krasite. She’s trained her whole life to destroy the Calamity Vessels and bring glory to her kingdom. Only she didn’t know that the Vessels would be humans. Stuck between wanting to help her kingdom and her own values, she decides to ‘guard’ you while she tries to ‘decide what is best’ for the kingdom and the world. She wears her heart on her sleeve and loves all equally, but maybe you want to be loved by her more than anyone else?
Cassidy (He/Him)
A doctor and a researcher, he specializes in Calamity related illnesses as well as Calamity related legends, prophecies, and the Vessels themselves. As soon as he learns of your status as a Calamity Vessel, he insists on joining you ‘for the sake of research’. Despite his protests that it’s ‘only for research’, he seems to have a personal stake in the Calamity Vessels. Perhaps if you open up to him, he’ll open up to you.
Estrea (They/Them)
A mage from a far off continent, they’ve travelled to Malas to work on their magic and become the strongest they can. Unwilling to share why they want to be so strong, they join you ‘to have the best guides’. They are a bit airheaded and doesn’t know what’s going on half the time however, they soon become very involved in your journey. They want to do anything they can to rid you of this curse, they aren’t even from this continent, so why does your situation seem so personal to them?
Daireann (Gender Selectable)
A serious and secretive person, they join your group after you save them from a town mob. They won’t tell you anything about themselves save their name and insist on joining you for unknown reasons. They pretend not to care about what happens to anyone in the group they are fiercely loyal and, maybe not so deep down, deeply care for those in the group. You do notice something strange about them however, perhaps they’ll let you in if you earn more of their trust.
Vian (Gender Selectable)
A chronic flirt and risk-taker, they’ll do anything for a quick buck or if its fun enough. They live by the motto ‘you only live once’, but they don’t seem to care much for their life. They join your group because of how interesting they find you. Despite how flippant they are with regards to everything, they are very interested in the Calamities. You sense they are hiding a dark secret, but can you earn their trust enough for them to tell you?
