PHASE 1 - CONTEXTUAL STUDIES
Musgum Mud Hut,Cameroon
Musgum Mud Hut, the traditional dwelling go the Musgum people in Cameroon, a country in Central Africa.I selected this particular structure for multiple reason: first, I was attract to its form, and Second, I was fascinated by its function. Musgum Mud Hut are domed in shape, which to me feels comfortable and something not often seen in Thailand
MOTION GRAPHICS - This project will introduce you to basic features ofmotion graphics and visual effects by using Adobe AfterEffects CC (AE).
A professional software that will boostyour capacities in your project presentations. You will get to know the software interface, elemental tools,importing and interpreting footage, creating assets andbe organized with media.
IMAGE MAKING : RENDER - This project will work with digital rendering of architectural images. Starting from a given rhino model,you will develop the rendering routine working withVRAY 2.0.
First, This project will have to set up an exteriorscenario using the provided 3D objects (vegetation,people, cars..) and the already defined point of view.Afterwards you will apply material to objects,This is the first step of all. First, deign the position of cars, trees, human.
IMAGE MAKING : COLLAGE - This project will inquire into the making of images.You will employ techniques of implementingphotography into constructed images. During class, youwill select 2 rendered views
1 from an external and 1from an internal point of view of the 3d model. You mustapply a series of steps as listed under ‘ConstructingImage’. Subsequently, you will consolidate thecomposition of layers of each image into a coherentgraphic whole as listed under ‘Postprocessing’. At the endof the class you will submit 2 constructed images withthe required resolution to be printed in A4 (150dpi) aslisted under ‘Saving and Printing Image’.
SCRIPTING - On this session we will continue improving our Grasshopper skills, a plug-in for Rhinoceros, which hasvariety of functions.
Grasshopper has a visual interfacewhich sets it apart from other scripting plugins andlanguages. You will be introduced to how Grasshopperworks with and compliments Rhinoceros.
PRECISE-MODELING - As you know, Rhinoceros is a 3D software used in architecture as a tool for design and representation.
Rhinoceros provides a high level of precision that allows the user to define projects from its details to a largerscale. In this workshop student will have to modelprecise mathematical forms, a series of six polyhedra.
CITY - On this project is design a city based on the movie and criteria of build volume, circulation and open space. Your city is an abstract manifestation of form and composition through organisation principles and systemic rules of mass and empty space.
There are three parts of this project ;2.1 city, 2.2 building ,and 2.3 unit. I was assigned to watch Minority Report Movie and deisgn the city baesd on this movie. And designthe building from the city and also the room.
2.1 - Minority Report Movie In this project, I was assigned to watch Minority Report and design city inspired by the movie. The movie is set in the future. There are two parts of the city, the upper and lower.
The upper part, everything is very advance: the technology, the tools, and the vehicles, etc. I refer it as the new. The lower part is an existing city filled with existing buildings which I refer it as the old.
The concept of my city is inspired by the new and the old. I created the new is located in the middle of the city as a centralize city plan and people be able to access easily by the escalator of the new building. And The old is surrounded by the new. As you can see, the relationship between the new and the old are connected by the escalator. So, I want to show that the new and the old can co-exist.
2.2 - In this phase is continuous with the project of city by choose the building from the city. I chose the building in the middle of the city. The new building is consist of everything that the old do not have because the old building is the existing building which a normal residence that surrounding by the new.The below shows three sections of the building: the shopping mall, the office, and the residence. The ground floor is the old building.
2.3 - Since this phase I have to choose the room to create the room that consists of point of view, access to daylight, view outside, and also show actions of sleeping, defecating, cleansing, consuming, food preparing, and working. So, I have to study by NEUFERT and measure diamension of people with furniture. The Room that I chose is the room of the residence floor. So, the concept of the room is transparency. Since the topic of my project is the new and the old. As the old, it located on the ground floor therefore, it would get the sunlight less then the new building which located upper than the old. Moreover, the room which is consist of transparent will get the benefit by sunlight because it allow an abundance of natural light into the interior space.
CONSTRUCTING SITUATIONS - A moment of life concretely and deliberately constructed by the collective organization of a unitary ambiance and a game of events. This peoject will require to construct a situation basefd on a specific set of human.
I got the topic Theresold and night time, as I survey this topic in Odean Roundabout. It inspired me to create a place for where homeless people be able to stay.The idea that I came up with is to enconrage homeless people to exchange work for shelter. Since I got threshold private which is the place that is not by the government.The location is on Odean roundabout. For my observation, that area is a tourism area and there were 3 to 4 homeless people there. It inspires me to create a place where homeless people can stay. The action : Sheltering and also storing,washing,and sleeping as well.
Storage : During the day and night time they are keep some bottle or garbage. So,I was created this room to keep them inside. It can be used as a living room when it's not used.The window is to ventilation.And there is also the window side that can open to throw the garbage.
Bathroom : The window is to ventilation. This room includes toilets and shower. And there is also line to dry clothes.
Bedroom : I have decided to use futon, and they can also be keep in a wall to save space. For the window they can adjust the light. And also another side they can decide where they want to sit or sleep.
To get the place for homeless people, the owner of building can have them clean up or work around the building to exchange for a shelter.
PHOBIAS & PHILIAS - This project is related to phobia and philia. The behavioural and spatial conditions developed during the previous phase will futher expand your original concept of a room.
3.1 - On this project, I got Thasspphobia, the fear of sitting down or sitting still And design the room for thassophobia people to stay. It named The Activity Cube. It help people avoid sitting down and keeping them active.There would be a lot of flexibility hanging from wall to wall and from ceiling to floor. It also have many activity to do inside like walking, jumping, and laying down.
All these activities combined in one room. However, people might be feel like they are in a tight space.So,I developed a larger activity cube (3.2) which contains five rooms, one for each activity.
3.2 - The development of this activity cube. It has five rooms,jumping room, aeroyaga room, climbing room, walking room, and sleeping room.It also even more friendly to thaasophobia people because the cube would not be laid flat agaist the floor. So, people cannot sit down.
The activity cube would be located outside of a enterprise outdoor area. Due to the face that people have to sit for a long time, they become bored. To fresh them up,the activity cube is suit for an office space.
RITUALS - This porject will immerse in to body and interaction. It will determine and redefine a rituals, moment or interaction, between two individuals and design an interface, mediation device, in reponse.
This project is a development project. First,the project will require to identify behavioral relationships and operational logic based on the human body,its proportional and kinetic characteristics. The yoga ball was used to interact with both of us in different posture , as the properties of yoga ball are rolled, bounced and expanded. We developed the new device that the properties of it is the same as the yoga ball. The device was made by cardboards and using interlock to connect cardboards together to make it stronger.The device was able to exercise and sit at the same time.
EXPANSION - A system of parts working together in an apparats, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task.
Expansion is defined through a mechanism which allows your devided cube to expand. Expansion must be materialised within your final model, stdudy models, and documented within the manual. On this project, It required for 27 pieces before it expand. It have to use all of 27 pieces to expand by the picture . There are four different kind of joint of the cube to expand and I used a magnet to connect each other as you can see in the picture (the black one). The four different picture is showing how the model be and when it expand.
