I've always been a huge fan of Matisse, especially of his cut outs. But who knew what an amazing sculptor he was?? Probably everyone but me. I was lucky enough to catch the last day of his exhibition on Sunday at the RA but haven't had a second to post these images. It wasn't so long ago that editors refused to put black models on the covers of magazines as they theorised that the copies wouldn't sell. That was proved wrong when Vogue Italia issued the iconic all black issue in 2008 and which sold out in 72 hours. Evidently it was pretty popular and while it proved the editors wrong, not much changed. I had forgotten about that until I tried to buy a copy of British vogue today in East Dulwich where I live. I should have known it would be a sell out. After visiting 7 newsagents, on crutches no less, I managed to hunt an elusive copy in my Sainsbury's local. Thanks to Mohammad I am now a happy woman. Not only does it feature a black model @adwoaaboah but it's also edited by a black gay man @edward_enninful. Trust British Vogue to be the first to instigate some changes and to celebrate diversity. It's taken a while but as they say, nothing comes before its time.
