“The biggest complaint I have about a lot of the kids who sing today, is that I can’t understand what they’re saying. If I could only understand some of the words, I might be more interested in what they are doing. But I can’t, there’s no enunciation, there’s no clarity, diction.” -Frank Sinatra
For Starters. As a full time coffee roaster, many here assume my job is coffee-lovers heaven. It is, but not for the reason they are referring to. They think I get the privilege to show up to work and gorge myself on every type of caffeinated beverage imaginable. Short, tall, and as often as I want. I get to be "wired" all day. This couldn't be further from the truth. Once one of these customers take a deep breathe and drink some water to calm the jitters fueled by their 20 ounces of syrup with 4 shots, then they could process the fact that coffee is a profession, not an addiction. For starters. Tea. Almost every morning, before I brew the latest roasted origin, I have tea. Black tea in particular. I've enjoyed this little separate ritual long before I ever became a coffee roaster. It's complex and unique flavors are an enticing adventure. Above is a personal favorite. "Creme de la Earl Grey" by Tea Chai Té. A nifty little shop in Portland, Oregon.
The coffee is roasted. My work here is done and I wait to go home. Christmas is soon. I think about the ones I love, the many blessing I take for granted. It thrills my heart to know these things. December has brought immense sadness to not just the nation, but some dear friends locally. Unimaginable grief and sorrow fills this valley. With what has come to pass and will come to pass, I rest upon the fact that I know, that I know my redeemer lives. And He is, and always will be in control. Merry Christmas to you and yours. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Everytime I open my mouth to sing along with Bing Crosby, I feel like an idiot.

A man should dress in a way that you don’t notice. He looks good and you don’t know why. But it’s the tailoring, the materials, and the clothes.

I should probably resurrect this Tumblr account this summer. Apparently my trend tends to be putting some photos up of our summer hot spots. I know that there is a serious following of our beloved Sweet Peaks Ice Cream. If your in Bigfork, Kalispell or Whitefish, get there. Enough said.
The coffee crawl to Portland has begun. Amongst two cars and 8 traveling Lindy Hoppers, this coffee roaster is excited. To start this trip off right. Indaba Coffee. Off the beaten path, nestled discretely in the court district of Spokane WA. This had been my second visit. Being impressed not just once, but twice, is deserving of a shout out. In my own opinion, Spokane has always been a barren waste land regarding speciality coffee. Indaba is cranking out great shots coupled with a variety of drip methods showcasing a different roaster at random. The ability to pull consistent shots produces incredible results that go nicely with their unique and "confusion-free" menu. I recommend double fisting it. Grab a yummy cappuccino and an AeroPress. Hints of blueberries, peanuts and pleasant citrus notes will surely be in this cup. Get there!
These have haunted me for two months. I can't get away from them. It's pretty typical for me to set my sights on the most expensive item a guy could possibly find. Even though they are priced at an obscene level, my challenge is to acquire a pair! Help, gifts, donations, charity, sympathy even, is accepted here.
Cause I can.
