"I've never met a picky eater of color" very much does feel like a pretty benign example of "people of color are cool, white people we uncool" type of racism because I think every culture has their own version of "chicken strips and fries" it's just that people aren't going to clock "curry and rice" or "miso buttle noodles" as being "safe foods" because their "ethnic". whatever that means.
like to some extent I think it's natural that people's safe foods are going to naturally reflect their background culture, (which is why I think it's annoying when people moralize eating chicken nuggets or whatever) but there this bizarre expectation that non-american picky eaters of color (or non-american poc in general) are going to be able to eat all food from their culture, despite the fact noone expects white autistic people to eat all western food. For reasons.
Like the reason a white autistic person going "i can't even indian food because it's all overwhelming and I have sensory issues" is obviously racist is also the same reason "how can people of color be picky eaters if their food is exotic" is you know. Kinda racist. Because the idea that a non-american person of color with arfid wouldn't have options for "safe food" in their respective culture is. Very weird.
